I cannot agree more. It boils my blood when we relegate the supreme sacrifices of our soldiers to mere 'duty' and make issue out of non issues just to gain political mileage.

A trip to Narayangaon has been long long overdue. Right now i am in the middle of recovering from a intestinal infection. Once i cross this bridge, we will hit Narayangaon first thing.

True. India as an investment destination will continue to attract attention, but the market will be more regulated in times to come. Regulation is also important considering the reality that all a lot of unaccounted money is flowing in through the broker/ agent route. There is no mechanism to oversee this revenue stream, mostly which in cash.
The fact that certain builders are offering BMWs, prepaid EMIs, 0% loan, and are ready to use to the word 'negotiate', speaks a lot about the prevailing mindset. The sentiment amongst people is to stay away from buying houses right now. Speculators are exiting at previously unthinkable rates, just to minimize the losses/ loss in notional profits.
Anything to keep the prices at the same level. I think by Jan-Feb 09, we will have a clearer picture of how the govt. plans to regulate this market.

I echo your feelings Vaibhav. At one point of time i too was considering a career in the civil services, but somewhere along, i lost the ambition. The problem of trying to educate people is that there is no real motivation people have that can make them stick to their resolutions. Our "Chalta hai" attitude, and "Mera kaam ho gaya na!" is our greateset fallacy.

I agree with you that the major root cause of our problems lie in the bureaucratic structure, but then what are we doing about it? Most people in our age categories are away from home, in different parts of the country, and hence may not be voting. I for once, have not voted for the past 3 years..no one to blame but myself. The politicos have errected barriers that discourage someone like me to take the pains of re-registering as and when i move through contituencies. Its a well thought out plan, to thwart any progressive development and accountability.

hehe. Sir i am not a regular smoker. :). Once in a while is how i like it.
My angst is against taking away the right from the people. There was absolutely no need to ban smoking in pvt offices. There are special zones for smoking, and except the smoker, i dont see how it harms any one else?
The cops will be smiling for sure. Mr. Ramadoss forgot to out a ban on other tobacco products like Gutka etc, whose spit can cause TB, and other air borne diseases. Sigh..we always learn by redoing everything atleast 200 times. :)

Hi Priyanka!

I knew someone would reaise an objection to my angst against this law. Hence the disclaimer "Don’t get me wrong. I am ok with the ban on smoking in public places LIKE restaurants, hospitals, police stations etc, but leave my private sanctuary alone, and that includes my office space."

This new definition my the minister lacks clarity on what constitutes a working space. And of course, if i have in my employment certain persons, then my home is a private working premise.

Airlines DO have a smoking zone, smoking seats to be precise. Our domestic routes dont have any smoking seats, but international flights do.

I am not against banning smoking in Public places, but thats the whole reason for creating smoking zone. Smoking zones are not parks where innocent non smoker s come for a stroll. The puspose is just that smoker harm themselves without harming anyone else. Simple.
