All your comments just sound really angry and use the word "liberal" like an obscenity. While Thomas Watson cites actual sources to prove his point, you just take his cited claims and say things like "grow up" and "stop lying to yourself." I'm not saying your points aren't valid, but I can't tell when you don't provide any evidence to back your claims up and resort to name-calling to try to further your agenda.

Re: Betty White to join NBC's 'Community' premiere

I'm growing a bit weary of the Betty White reemergence, but if she'll boost Community's ratings, I'm all for it. For the average tv viewer, picking up these things requires, as Gilbert says, active viewing. Don Draper is a perfect example of why there is more in the silences and stares of Mad Men than there is in the dialogue. He doesn't say shit, but you can pick up so much from his character just by watching him.

I'd agree that Gilbert's article is oddly timed, given the relative activity of the last two weeks, but put Mad Men's pacing in perspective with almost any other show: shows like Heroes, Lost, Dexter, Entourage, or nearly any other serial drama have a dramatic opening, building of conflict/issues during the episode, and a killer finale that leaves viewers wanting more.

Last night's episode was rare in that it actually gave one of those emphatic finishes, with Don angrily telling Betty he signed the contract, leaving the weak Victorian beauty to sit on her ugly-as-sin couch and ruminate. But most episodes of Mad Men finish with little aplomb.

The point is, you would have to be carefully watching Mad Men to understand each of the aforementioned conflicts (Don vs. Peggy, Don vs. Roger, Don vs. commitment), with the exception of the last one. I hope everyone gets that one by now. But still. It's stuff that is happening, but not in the traditional tv serial style of stuff. It's subversive stuff. And that's what makes it great.

Also, Sean from Northeastern would be proud. I'm 15 days past my last CH comment, and still the mini-meme lives on.

Re: http://welcometothisblogbitch.tumblr.com/post/199240934

Yes, last week's (not last night's) episode was an obvious exception. But in the end, everything set up by the episode was torn down again, leaving little to build on other than throwing Sterling's instability within the company into the spotlight. I guess Peggy's recent dilemma/sluttiness is something, but still, it's nothing compared to most shows.

Re: JUST FIGURED OUT OUR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES, YOU GUYS

So... what is it?

Re: Sans Latin

Somebody posted a link to Lamebook in the Digg comments, everybody went there, and now it's down.
