So, we all agree that things cannot and should not continue the way they are going. But, what are the alternatives? What do we do, as citizens, and as a country, to intercede? How do we stop the current administration from dragging us down further? Instead of just writing about it, complaining about it, and doing nothing about it, what can we do?

You two have both posted excellent comments! I have learned more about this topic from reading both of your comments than what is generally reported in the media. I still don't agree that we should've let the company fail, but to continuously pour money into a company that is not being monetarily responsible, is well questionable, at best. I, too, don't agree with the constant spending that the Obama Administration is doing, but what are the alternatives? I haven't really heard any viable alternatives to solve the current situation the country is in.

Yep, it seems we have amassed a lot of enemies. I wonder why that is and when did it happen? There seems to be a lot of hope in President Obama to soothe the masses. That's a huge hurdle to overcome, but you never know.

I think this city needed a major change. Kwame Kilpatrick was supposed to have a bright future in politics. So many people placed tons of hope in him. It's unfortunate how it all turned out. But maybe this Dave Bing will bring the restoration to the city that it needs.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think there's so much sad stuff being reported on nowadays, that we need to hear some absolutely ridiculous things here and now to make you laugh. For a while, when I post something on 7daybuzz, it will be so stupid, BUT TRUE, that we won't be able to help but laugh.

And Miss Elaine, I read your comment about Joe Biden. I agree with you - he's saying some very STUPID stuff. I'll have to piece together a "JOE BIDEN FAMOUS QUOTES" post or something along those lines. Let's have some fun!

I watched it with my mouth open, then I started cracking up laughing! I was like, you gotta be kidding me?!!!! It was just so stupid that I, initially thought, this has to be a joke. I wasn't offended at all - by the end of the commercial, I was singing "Red House Furniture" or whatever they were saying with them. LOL!!!!

This was RIDICULOUS! Regarding this issue, I don't think it has anything to do with bias. President Obama was just wrong to okay something like this (and I'm assuming he okayed it if he is saying it was a mistake to do). This lends credence to the people who are saying President Obama is wasteful!

I don't agree with Big Brother watching us. I just feel like our right to privacy is slowly slipping away. I understand the need to protect, but why does fear have to be a major factor in the safety argument? I just don't like it.

Hey Richard, welcome back. Yep, you're right about the legalisms in Christianity (or religious groups as a whole). But we're talking about a president of a country making it a law! Here in the US, that wouldn't happen (or at least, I don't think it could ever happen in my life time).

If you've ever been in an area where people sell food stamps to get cash, the concept is the same. For example, some people will sell $50 worth of food stamps for $25 cash. That's what these communities are doing. Instead of selling food stamps, they are printing their own currency and selling it.

When I listened to this, it brought to mind that old saying in the Black community: "It's a Black thing, you wouldn't understand." That's how I feel about Tammy Bruce's reaction to Michelle's comment. When Michelle said people would tell her she talks like a White person because she spoke proper English, what Tammy Bruce doesn't realize is that is this is very common in the Black community - for people to say something so ridiculous. Is it right? Heck no, but it happens. Michelle didn't mean anything by it and for Tammy Bruce to call her trash for saying something like that, well that just lets me know, Tammy has no clue about what some Black children have to endure when they try to excel in school, in an en environment where it might not be the most important thing to do. Does that make sense? I kinda rambled on here.

Hey Miss Elaine. As a new mother, I understand the philosophy of doing whatever needs to be done to provide for your kids. And, I, too, do not judge those who choose to strip to provide for their kids because I know a lot of jobs do not allow one to make that amount of money, in the least amount of time. But my question is: Is that the "easy" and most convenient option?

Morally, I disagree with this. I understand the lure of the money and sometimes people feel this is their only option. If it were womeone I knew, I would definitely try to talk them out of it. I guess it's to the point where some people feel they have to do what they have to do.

I have said this over and over, I am an Obama supporter, but he's beginning to sound like a broken record to me. He's not saying anything new. Of course, I'm still going to give him the benefit of the doubt to make things work, especially since he's only been in office less than 3 months. However, after his speech, I received notification from one of my favorite fact-checking sites: factcheck.org, and this is what they had to say about parts of Obama's speech:

He said his budget projections are based on economic assumptions that “are perfectly consistent with what Blue Chip forecasters out there are saying.” Not true. The average projection by leading private economists is now for substantially less economic growth than the administration’s forecast assumes.

He said he is reducing “nondefense discretionary spending” to less than it was under the past four presidents. Not true. His own forecast for the final budget of his four-year term puts this figure higher than in many years under Reagan, Clinton or either Bush.

He said he was “angry” about “inexcusable” bonuses paid to AIG executives. But he glossed over the fact that his own aides insisted on watering down a Senate-passed amendment that might have prevented payment of such bonuses.

He repeated that his budget is projected to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his term. That’s true, but deficits also are projected to shoot up again later unless big policy changes are made.

I would make every government official sign a pledge that states something to the effect of: "If I go back on my commitment to the American people I vow to serve, I will resign from position immediately."
