Be yourself. Don't try to "act black" or "talk black" to fit in at first...it will come off fake and offensive.
Listen more than you talk at first. Accept that we may laugh at things you don't, be angered by things you never think of, etc. You'll do just fine because you are asking the right questions up front.

I feel like racism in America has been one great big systemic infliction of domestic abuse. The abused, or victims of any trauma, respond, react, and cope in different ways. I feel like guys like Paris fall into the category of coping via deep denial and co-dependency. Do I agree with it? No. But if you look at it from the abuse lens, you can see how he's landed where he did.
