Leather is one in the same, whether that is as boots or leathers and the boots require conditioning of a different sort so I figured, "why not?".

As for the interlocks, I'm assuming you're just talking about the rows connecting the channel to the outside? If so, duly noted. I've played with my own quite a bit and it is very broken-in, but those haven't affected the play of the stick... yet. I'll have to restring my back-up and see if I notice the difference. I can definitely see what you're talking about though.
