I just started using it today (with ARC Welder to run an Android app on my Mac) and it brightened my miserable day with cranky toddlers immediately. It's just what I need. I love the time & money suggestions and the links to resources to help get things started. Don't listen to people saying you can do this with index cards. I already do lots of that. This goes way beyond that. I wish you success.

Re: 'Mountain' 1.1 Update Coming Soon, Brings Forth Blood Mode and More

Just stopping by to warn people that the "Blood Mode" code above seems to reset the game on iOS right now. I just lost a mountain covered with stuff, didn't get to see an ending after waiting patiently for hours :(( Oh, well, at least I got a rubber duckie this time around, didn't see that on my first mountain...

Re: Friday Links: Everyone’s Got to Bow to Somebody

You meant 10 year old, not year old, on the link to the NPR article.

Re: Required Reading

Thanks for the link to the article about Art Basel Miami Beach. I don't know if I'll ever want to go to it now. The people there sound insufferable, both the visitors and the people running things.

Re: Touring The Barnes Foundation That Was

I found this link earlier today. I was also sad to hear that the collection was being moved. I had heard of the Barnes before, and I thought it was an interesting concept. Some people in the NYTimes comment section complain about the unrelated bits of metal above the paintings, but I think they're awesome. The whole collection was just unique as a unit.

Re: A Carrot in My Pedestal: Jennifer Rubell’s NYMag Profile

No, this "artist" and the people who support what she does are full of shit. This isn't the whole art world. I think you know that. Were you being sarcastic? (Sorry if I missed the sarcasm, I'm kind of roasting in a house with broken A/C at the moment, so my thinking could be a little cloudy.)

Re: Missing the Point About “Twitter Art”

I knew that you would find me, but you can't block me here :P (Don't block me, Hrag!) I'm not so sure that it's easy to find criticism of bad net art on your site. I check your blog almost every day. I might have missed some things, though, because I do miss a few days and particular posts. thepulse.tumblr.com pokes fun at weaker net art, but it's infrequently updated, and sometimes I'm not sure how serious they are about it all.

Re: Missing the Point About “Twitter Art”

Bleh. In fact, most of it seems gimmicky and short-sighted to me. I'd love to see some examples that do a good job of handling the deeper issues that you list. I didn't say that the immateriality was a problem, just a shared characteristic.

Re: Missing the Point About “Twitter Art”

What really confuses me is how Paddy has a problem with "Twitter art" but loves almost all "net art" unconditionally, as far as I can tell from her blog. (Yes, I'm too chicken to try to say this directly to her face on her blog.) They seem pretty closely connected to me, at least in being immaterial and dependent on computers for their existence. I think she doesn't like things that veer into relational aesthetics territory, but it seems like at least Twitter-based art is more open to the general public than some Tiravanija dinner or something like that.

Re: Cy Twombly Dead at 83

Sorry to hear this. It's in the British Airways 1st Class lounge at Heathrow. Here's the link to the Tweet, which has a link to the photo: http://twitter.com/#!/vanes... I saw it while randomly searching for stuff, and I immediately thought of AFC. I checked to see if she was someone connected to AFC in some way, but it doesn't look like it. I might be wrong, though.

Re: Shepard Fairey’s Secret “Revealed”?

Ugh, I didn't realize how much of a dick Fairey was until I watched that :( I'd heard murmurs, but I hadn't seen it in action. That "OBEY" stuff and even the Obama poster is far less cool now. I have problems with creative people who suck as human beings. That taints everything they touch, in my opinion.

Re: The 4-Year-Old Artist – NYTimes.com

Thanks for this follow-up. Vanity gallery... I can't tell you how much these kinds of stories irritate me. The only story of this type that annoys me more is one about some elephant, chimp or horse painting something and people actually buying it. Glad it got exposed as total garbage. Unfortunately, lots of people won't hear that part of the story. I feel for that kid a little bit. She's being used.

Re: IMG MGMT: A Letter to Ron Tye

That was brilliant. Everyone seems to be drinking the Kool-Aid when it comes to GIFs in the art blogs that I'm reading. It was starting to piss me off. (Yeah, I'm a painter. I don't know why many of these people are so anti-paint.) I was wondering what I was missing. I'm so glad you allow people to leave comments, too. GIFs can be fun, and I guess they can be art of a sort, but they just seem so weak and ephemeral. I don't remember most of them for very long. I'm not sure that the majority of GIF makers are hipsters, but there are definitely some hipsters involved.
