I didn't think I was going to have this reaction to more skyscrapers until I saw the designs. My reaction with visceral, emotional, protective: I wanted to cup my hands around Manhattan's groin and crouch and mutter, "Oh, no, not again." It felt exposed, vulnerable. Perhaps this is all good reason to start therapy, but the economy sucks and so I won't bother.
On the video: if there is less motion in video does it take up less bandwidth or is a minute of video always a minute of video at the same bandwidth?

That's the point: This is THAT easy, thanks to the software. It's not a big-deal production.
As for links: I meant to mention that I would embed the player in a page with the links on it.
I've also played with other software from Germany that lets you show the actual pages according to time cues; that will come next.

What your Macromedia work brings is lightness.
What the Serious Magic software brings is TV professionalism thanks to (a) a teleprompter script - so you have something to say and say it well, (b) easy graphic inserts, so this becomes compelling, informative TV and more than just a talking head, and (c) ease.
My demos are cheesy but I did them quickly just to see what this could do. With some work, someone can turn out damned good video.
The next problem to solve: Bandwidth! There, too, I wonder whether you have some useful insight and help.
Let's talk.

The logic of both comments is circular: They're not homophobic. They're defending institutional policies that happen to exclude homosexuals.
Try this on for size: He's not an antisemite. He's only defending the German government's Nuremburg laws, which happen to exclude Jews.
Same difference, people: You are defending policies that exclude gays from the employ and leadership of these churches.
It's bigotry by any name.
It's unchristian by any name.
It's hate by any name.

Just look at his site: not only ugly but unreadable: no sense of how to use size and emphasis, no sense of the need to have a focal point, no effort to help guide the user/reader/viewer/consumer. His design is the perfect representation of his attitude: arrogance.

I have been militant about low-download, simple text design as well. But that doesn't mean it needs to be ugly, a la Nielsen.
Note, importantly, that I'm not talking about my personal site, which is butt-ugly (a stolen template redone like a cheap '30s ranch house). I'm talking about my sites at work, where I have real designers who know how to design light -- but well. Nielsen doesn't know that.

Howard: AMEN! As I mentioned somewhere in my mess of vlog posts, my 6- and 10-year-olds have used the software to create video messages (including scripts); my son is about to do a school paper in video. Go to Screenblast and you see great work by young people. As with any innovation (or technology) count on the young to find the true potential. I just want to go along for the ride...

Yup, with the Serious Magic software, the monitor is the 'prompter. Good idea on comments; have to solve the hosting problem first and then I can integrate the videos better (as well as links). I'll create a separate post for each vlog to allow comments. and happy new year back, mate!
