Simple. No need to over-engineer with stuff like finger print recognition and proximity awareness. Just lock like it was described. Looking good.

Re: Arthur Chang - Joann Sneak peek of this beautiful bride! I've tried a lot of permutations but still can't get it to work. Here are my questions:

1. Do I hold the shutter halfway the entire time I'm adjusting, or only once to get it into the right mode?
2. What flash setting should my camera be in? Or does it not matter? Like should it be in commander mode, manual mode, etc?
3. What setting should my SB-910's be in?

Thanks!

Re: Arthur Chang - Sigur Rover It’s awesome to start seeing my...

Thanks so much Clair!

Re: Arthur Chang - Serena and Aaron’s Wedding I’ve been friends with...

Thanks so much! I haven't posted on Google+ as much as I'd like, but hopefully I'll get some of my photos on there soon from my latest shoots.

I actually don't do too much post-processing these days. I use a preset that I built over the years. After processing tons of photos, I've started to see patterns in what I like. So I recorded all the actions I took with photoshop / lightroom, and just made it into a preset.

Usually, I spent most of my time finding just the right light and setting my white balance and exposure just right for the shot. When I do that, processing is simple. If I nail the exposure and all the settings in my camera (I shoot manual everything, except I use Autofocus sometimes), I usually just need to tweak the black levels a bit in lightroom and that's it.

Re: Arthur Chang - Reykjavík Some of my favorite photos from Iceland...

Thank you so much Clair!

Re: ReadyForZero Video Shoot: Meeting Our Users In Person

That's awesome! I don't think Prime is specifically tied to an immediate like action. The methods that good photos are shown are still evolving, which is why it's hard to understand, though I'm 100% certain I'm going to be publishing exactly how it works, so that people aren't afraid of missing out or having this need for anti-prime like features for sure. Being transparent about what's happening also lends to awesome feedback from photographers.

I always hate it when this is the "secret sauce" of explore and interesting photos, instead I want it to be known and available. I guess the only downside is "gaming" the system, though the only people you'd be gaming are your followers, who will eventually catch on and mute you on Prime, or unfollow you completely.

BTW "muting" is a feature too =) If you're sick of seeing someone's latest brunch food, you can mute them until they're back to posting what you originally liked ;)

Re: Prime: How One Programmer is Hoping to Tackle “Photo Consumption Fatigue”

@John V. Keogh Yeah these are just screenshots on what the algorithms have learned from my own tastes. Knowing photography is so subjective, and that people like control and already do at least one layer of curation themselves (by following people they like), we can already have a head start on what you'll want to see. I bet your prime feed would look completely different than mine for sure!

Re: Prime: How One Programmer is Hoping to Tackle “Photo Consumption Fatigue”

If it works like we plan, it will be the one place for you to consume photos from all your networks, also decreases on discouragement by filtering out what you don't and wouldn't want to see.

Re: Prime: How One Programmer is Hoping to Tackle “Photo Consumption Fatigue”

Haha definitely a possible feature in the future =) I can probably just start with filtering out anything with specific hashtags (like #vsco) for ya ;)

Re: Prime: How One Programmer is Hoping to Tackle “Photo Consumption Fatigue”

It's always evolving for sure. It's not perfect just yet, but we know exactly how the user can make it perfect for themselves =) The algorithms are not deciding what you should like, rather it takes all sorts of signals from what you like, who you follow, and all that to present the photos to you in a way where you're constantly able to curate and have a lot of control of what you see in the future.

Re: Arthur Chang - Prime (alpha) I’ve been working on a little side...

thanks so much claire

Re: Where To Watch The Bay Lights; Bay Bridge Reopening Celebration Moves Forward

Yeah, you can barely see it... but it's not worth it.

Re: Where To Watch The Bay Lights; Bay Bridge Reopening Celebration Moves Forward

show me a photo. I want to see what "just fine" is? I've taken photos from Treasure Island multiple times when they were testing, and it's definitely not even remotely close to what you see from Embarcadero. IN fact I've even confirmed with the designer that they are not designed to be visible from TI.

Re: Where To Watch The Bay Lights; Bay Bridge Reopening Celebration Moves Forward

If you try to take a photo from Treasure Island of the lights, you will be disappointed. I've tried it when they were testing at the same time a friend took them from Embarcadero, HUGE difference, and I could only see a few on the closer side of the bridge rather than the entirety of it.

They're not low powered, but LEDs are direction and do not have much spread. This was probably for the design of not distracting drivers on the bridge.

Re: Where To Watch The Bay Lights; Bay Bridge Reopening Celebration Moves Forward

treasure island will be a bust. The lights face north west, and being L.E.D.'s you'll have almost no good look at the lights.

it's very sad, even in their promotional videos it shows views from treasure island looking at the CG lights.

Everyone knows the best views of the city are from outside the city. If this project was really aimed at bringing more fame and tourism to SF, you have the worst ability to show off real photos from the best vantage point they could have gotten.

Really a big waste, but there you go. Don't goto Treasure Island.

Re: I am a storyteller for Land Rover

Thanks so much Paul!

Re: Unique San Francisco Skyline

This is our first addition to the Seeckr blog!

Re: Ecotech Marine Radion LED Photos

I want it in the "Apple White" color please! =)

Re: First hands on with the AI Nano LED and mounting arm

Why isn't the arm white!? yikes.

Re: http://blog.assimov.net/post/1635826492

Also note that if you're already logged in, connecting to a facebook user won't save the token without making sure the authentication object is created with a token in the authentications controller:

if authentication
flash[:notice] = "Signed in successfully."
sign_in_and_redirect(:user, authentication.user)
elsif current_user
current_user.apply_omniauth!(omniauth)
flash[:notice] = "Authentication successful."
redirect_to authentications_url

where you can define apply_omniauth as:

 def apply_omniauth(omniauth, save_it = false)
case omniauth['provider']
when 'facebook'
self.apply_facebook(omniauth)
end
self.email = omniauth['user_info']['email'] if email.blank?
build_authentications(omniauth, save_it)
end

 def build_authentications(omniauth, save_it = false)
auth_params = {:provider => omniauth['provider'], :uid => omniauth['uid'], :token =>(omniauth['credentials']['token'] rescue nil)}
if save_it
authentications.create!(auth_params)
else
authentications.build(auth_params)
end
end

 def apply_omniauth!(omniauth)
apply_omniauth(omniauth, true)
end

Re: Kevin Rose - blogg - 2011 New Year’s Resolutions

hey kevin, let me know if you want help on the saltwater tank, iphone app, taiwan.
