I think this one is all about the ol might dollar. I remeber a study being done years ago and how the light colored or white dolls were chosen over the darker or black colored dolls. Everything is about money to these companies and they could care less if someone's feelings are hurt in the process.

I would not name my child that but for her and some other people it works. It is tradition in most cultures to name children with names of symbols and meanings. We in the western culture find their methods of naming and traditions weird only because they are different from ours.

He is a Christian first and a athlete second and I am glad that he put it out there like that. Like you said, you can go all overboard to let someone know your sexual preference in this country but you will be attacked for displaying your religion.

I don't want to sound too light-hearted on the issue of death but I think they should start a support group to help them cope with their financial problems.

Ann is a nut job. I don't see how she continues to write books that people actually buy. She has nothing worthwhile to talk about. And I agree totally with you on the name calling. She needs to grow up and get a real career and stop distracting people for the truth and important issues.

I think the professor is more concerned with the fall of the US instead of how. He has no merit or foundation for his basis. I can hope that something falls apart and mention the things wrong with it as the reason but that does not validate it.

I understand the concerns about language and I even agree that is one of our problems but its a smaller problem of the bigger problem. Big businesses buy politicians and allow Spanish people into the country for cheap labor. Then organizations use them as pawns for their purposes and say that they have the "right" to speak and do whatever. Political parties use their plights to their advantage only to gain their vote not really caring about them and what's best for this country.

The language is just a smaller problem of a bigger problem in this country but I really don't see us collapsing from it. I think fear in some people also contributes to this concern.

I still think the Jena Six was a good cause just because the crime did not fit the punishment. The kids involved life was on the line for a school yard fight. Now this shoplifting case is another matter. There's no one to blame here but Mychal himself and his parents.

It is shameful that this is the way that he repays all those that stood up for him and the injustices committed against him. He should really truly be ashamed of himself.

Janet thank you for keeping this issue in the minds of Americans. I think a lot of factors contribute to the black on black crime rate in our country including the economy, black leaders, parenting and personal responsibility. I also think that if this issue was addressed as an American problem and not just a race problem, our communities and country would be a better off.

I've read that this is not the first time this judge has sentenced a woman for wearing a head wrap. I think maybe he takes his gavel a little too far. I'll have to research his profile and see what cases he has presided over to determine if he's an old school southern judge or just an idiot.

This is truly a tragic story. I think adoption agencies should have seminars or something to inform more people of the blessing that adopting can be. There are so many couples that would love to be able to have children and can not, while deadbeats and idiots can have as many as they want.

I think adoption information should be provided to young unwed mothers and maybe just maybe we would not hear so much of babies dying in the hands of their own families.

I agree also. Just because of her name, her first public office should be Senator in a major state like New York. I'm not buying it either. I think she should have to start at the bottom of the totem pole just like everybody else.

Actually Kannie I was being a little sarcastic with the capitalism part. I remember when the oil companies began to boast their 4 billion and 6 billion dollar quatrerly profits who Limbaugh and Hannity stated this is a capitalistic nation and either you make a profit or you don't and that the government should not be able to say how much of a profit you are allowed to make. Either you succeed or you fail is what they said.

I think this is socialism, one of the main strategies used against President Elect Barack Obama. They accuse him of being a socialist yet the government is taking our money and passing it around to big businesses like banks and the auto industry and like you said, what's next. This is starting to be a never ending cycle.
It will be interesting to see who's next in this capitalistic succeed or fail system.

Thanks for dropping in Jen. I hope this whole thing works out. The Ford plant in Norfolk, Virginia closed down completely and it was devasting to our local economy. Hopefully they will all come to an agreement soon and stop playing with the lives of the employees.

This is interesting. I have to wonder what percentage of those children that are living with unmarried parents. My reasoning is that in some households momma may be with this guy for two years and then another guy for three years and so on. I know its the devil's advocate but it is reality.

Obama said it best that men really need to change the course of childrearing. And I think some women should be a bit more wiser in choosing mates and how many.

Colin Powell hit it on the head. The Republican party needs to change its outlook and Rush Limbaugh should be discarded as a republican/conservative know-it-all. Limbaugh is un-American and speaks out to destroy anybody and anything that is not conservative or Republican.

You would think that Limbaugh would be considered useless to the republican party since everything he predicted for this pass presidential election did not happen, but he just signed another big contract so somebody likes the divisiveness he continues to drive between Americans.

I am totally against the whole concept. First and foremost because the city of Detroit's murder rate is 5.16 times the national average; its graduation rate is 21.7% and for all purposes of keeping this comment short, I will not talk about the incarceration rate, teen-age pregnancy, unwed mothers, drugs and other black on black crime.

When I saw this on the news this morning I thought it was a joke. This makes me sick to my stomach. Let's call a spade a spade. Ellis is worried about loosing the income of his tithers. Of all that's going on he's praying about some SUV's and they have babies dying in the streets, dropping out of school and no hope for the future.

Please. Jesus turned over the tables in the temples before for bringing the outside world into his Father's house and he needs to do it again.
