If you have a good local mechanic, what's the incentive to go to a dealership for service, which is often overpriced as it is? The mechanics can work through the manufacturer directly for warranties, recalls, etc, no? If not, they should be able to.

There's negativity everywhere, but I there are good fans with open minds here and some other places like io9, etc. Still people who disagree, but most of them seem intelligent and open to discussion. Don't let it bring you down. Glad we have new Trek to all love and bitch about. :-)

Sorry your son had to see inappropriate content for his age. I won't let me kids watch because I'm expecting it to have "adult content" since it's on All Access and not on broadcast CBS, which means more blood and gore, more profanity, and now more sex. So far I don't think it's been gratuitous (just for shock value, it does serve the story they're trying to tell) but sadly it's not for little kids. And maybe I'm forgetting but does CBS All Access offer "viewer discretion advised" warnings before each episode? I guess it doesn't have to.

This is why, unfortunately, the awful Mayor de Blasio will be re-elected. There is no strong alternative choice -- the subpar candidates (Malliotakis, Dietl, Albanese) will split the anti-deBlasio vote and we will be stuck with him for another terrible four years.

Sounds like a chicken-vs.egg conundrum, even if comets and asteroids provide part of the answer. Then where did those comets ad asteroids get their water, if the deeper question is how can water form without evaporating into space. Interesting mystery. So would water-covered planets, even in so-called Goldilocks-zones, be rare in the universe?

It's also interesting to note that both the new Yankee Stadium and the new CitiField have less attendance capacity than the original Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium, so they can never equal or surpass the old attendance records. When built, they had a business model to attract corporate customers for season tickets and luxury suites then 2008's market crash happened among other things, and now they're realizing that they still need average joes to buy single game tickets at affordable prices. I used to go to multiple games a year and pay $20 bucks or so for good seats. Can't do that anymore. Last year was the first year in my life since I was a kid that I didn't attend a regular season baseball game. :-(

The Yankees brand is one of the most identifiable brands, not just in sports, but in pop culture. I think a name change would be a big mistake -- the problem with the Staten Island team and its low attendance isn't the name, in my humble opinion.

One of the most fun speculative fiction books I've read. And it begs for an obvious sequel (with the risk that it could becoming an unwieldy narrative mess). But when I put the book down after finishing that last page, my head was spinning, not just about which new world Jason1, Daniela, and Charlie would be walking into, but what will happen to those multiple Jasons left behind -- surely some of them have their own extra ampoules, and maybe some of them might know how to make more. Would some unite to make a better world (or take it over) or would most of them jump back into the machine and try to chase the "real" Daniela and Charlie or try to find that perfect alternate reality where the multitude-of-Jasons never came so they can deal with Jason2 one-on-one. The possibilities are endless (like the premise.

To be fair, Sanders was responding to a question about criticism from Clinton supporters that he himself wasn't qualified. His later clarification makes this a misleading headline and the timing distracts from the issues.

Not my intention at all, Nichole. I was referring to the notion that the legit theater jobs are few compared to the number of people aspiring to them, and the perception that even if you find employment in theater, some need "day jobs" or other supplemental income to make ends meet. My point was that the skills learned by studying the theater arts can be applied to other noble professions as well. My apologies for my poor wording.

For those who say there are few jobs for theater majors, it's just short-sightedness. I know many people who translated the skills they learned in theater into legitimate careers as lawyers, politicians, entrepreneurs, professors, motivational speakers, therapists, etc.

So despite its problems, it cost too much to replace, so let's just spend even more money to try to fix it, (no guarantees that it can be fixed). Somebody's getting rich off Common Core. It shouldn't be about money, it should be about the best way to educate our kids.

I finally saw it and liked it. The production values were quite nice, in my opinion. Terry Brooks' Shannara saga has become so epic, crossing over to some of his other franchises, I believe. It will be interesting to see how closely the show sticks to the source material or if it eventually goes down separate paths.
