Not sure how long you've followed the development of AppleTV, but Apple has always considered it to be more of a hobby than a mass market device. Less of a hobby now than it used to be, but it's been that case for a while.

Some folks are worried about Google's data collection as well, it's still not as capable as an ATV 4K but Android TV is a step in the right direction

It's more than 3 years old and it's still a better streaming device than a $50 stick or what's built into any TV. I don't think apple is concerned about mass market appeal for this device, but it should still be an option for people who will notice the difference and the variety of apps that it can run.

Some people still prefer to not have their streaming OS tied to the whims of TV manufacturer software updates

Even with being older than other streamers, the 4k ATV still beats them hands-down with responsiveness and ability to run a variety apps as they are designed.

I meant the AppleTV 4K, you know there's different models right? The AppleTV 4K has a faster processor than the AppleTV HD. Good grief.

Just the sheer responsiveness compared to other devices is worth it alone. I never said anything about PQ.

Least popular but still the most capable streaming device. Just processor speed in the AppleTV 4K alone makes it ahead of the pack.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. CarPlay is dependent on your phone too, so, I'm paying a subscription to use a feature of my phone? Implementing it isn't even hard in an infotainment system, the hardware really only needs to talk to the car's GPS antenna and USB ports. Some don't even do that anymore. Good grief.

I mean, you paid for the basic features of the app, the other stuff is just extra and not a definite necessity. Anyways, this is so dumb to argue over, you do your thing, I'll do mine and spend 30 cents a month I feel is valuable over the basic features and support good apps.

Dude it's 49 cents a month or less than that at $4 a year. Literally just pays for the devs server usage for updating constantly.

Great pics! I've definitely noticed the different in exposure thanks to the advanced HDR, I also love the bokeh control, even though it's not quite the same, it still has a nice look.

It's come a long way, the app isn't as pretty as Yale's app, but it gets the job done. It is reliant on bluetooth and a connection to an appletv or HomePod for HomeKit to work outside the house, those are the only things you should be aware of, but I've had it for two years and I haven't really had any issues.

I'm still very happy with my Schlage Sense, I like that it's made by a well regarded lock company, and this Yale would be that way too. They were one of the first deadbolts to have Homekit integration and it's constantly getting firmware updates, they also look really nice.

You should mention that Ring had to totally pull their security system before launch because of a lawsuit and judgement from ADT. Which sucks, cause it really looked promising. They basically have to redo the tech it uses because they used tech that was owned by ADT at the time.

Thanks! I have a garage door opener that's branded Precision Garage Doors (It may be Liftmaster or Chamberlain), so I think I have to wait for that new smart hub or spend extra money and get the My Q Garage (that works for all garage doors) and then the bridge.

Just wanted to add that DirecTV support is just the satellite provider, DirecTVNow is not supported yet. I think you should make this clarification.

The schlage lock works WAY better now with Homekit, it used to take forever to lock and unlock, but now it's just an easy swipe up of Control center and it does a super quick status update and it locks right away, very cool and it's great Schlage has been on top of updates for this lock. I think it's good to realize this is also a really good deadbolt first and a very nice smartlock second, works great.
