Snow starts Wednesday so there should be new snow on Thursday. Heavenly often shuts down half the mountain when there is a storm though so the whole mountain might not be open until Saturday.

Berkeley Bowl doesn't get Pliny the Elder. I think they have PBR. Their beer selection is decidedly worse than Whole Foods.

I'm not sure why you were downmodded, escapism nails it.

Diablo was designed as a series of clicks and rewards. When you clicked on an item in your inventory, a pleasant sound chimed. When you killed Diablo, you got a better series of sounds and more things to click in your inventory.

WoW is so successful because it provides such a compelling alternative to reality. In reality, there is risk, there is emotion, there is change. In WoW, you just have a steady stream of clicks, a steady stream of rewards, and a steady group of pseudo-friends that don't judge you. In some ways, it is better than reality. If nothing else, it is much easier. The only way to get better is to play more, and the more you play, the more fun you have.

The network effect rules all here. Autoimporting the RSS feed of the DNA Network is a way of giving us *something* while we try and hit critical mass for the site. Not sure if we'll get there. It's tough.

Also, I very much prefer reddit to digg, both in style, content, and personal promotion. Thinkgene content hits the front page on reddit semi-regularly but I've never managed to crack digg.

It seems counter-intuitive, but when you are producing for a target listening environment of iPod earphones, sound and production quality don't matter. Soulja Boy had a huge #1 hit with a song with absolutely terrible production quality because it was made using consumer level loop software. It didn't matter to the consumer consciousness, because one kid managed to blandly homogenize a genre into a Nickelback-ian work of pop art.

No it doesn't. At least, that type of album is not very popular or successful or good anymore. To produce an album now, it takes a $300 USB sound card, instruments or pirated loops, and a pirated copy of Pro-tools. Talent helps, also.

Even when poker is legalized, I don't think the poker sites will start using credit cards because their chargeback problem will still be there.
