And if there was a FISA warrant, then we might get a chance to see what was the information was that lead to the application for the warrant in the first place and that is info the POTUS probably doesn't like or want out in the public domain.

That tweet was simply not a very well thought out act as the POTUS painted himself into a corner.

This is not a contradiction at all and does not support the allegations the POTUS tweeted out.

The NYT 1/19/17 article states, "The counterintelligence investigation centers at least in part on the
business dealings that some of the president-elect’s past and present advisers have had with Russia. Mr. Manafort has done business in Ukraine and Russia. Some of his (Manafort's) contacts there were under surveillance by the National Security Agency for suspected links to Russia’s Federal Security Service, one of the officials said. Mr. Manafort is among at least three (of the president elect's) campaign advisers whose possible links to Russia are under scrutiny. Two others are Carter Page, a businessman and former foreign policy adviser to the campaign, and Roger Stone, a longtime Republican operative."

It does not say anything about tapping of the president elect's lines or those at his Tower and excludes him from any of the focus of these FBI/Intel investigations and states, "It is not clear whether the intercepted communications had anything to do with Mr. Trump’s campaign, or Mr. Trump himself."

The current POTUS claims Obama tapped his phones during the election and offers no damn proof - though he would have access to any such information now. It doesn't even address that the office of the president does NOT direct such surveillance - it's done through FISA courts. This is just the latest attempt by an extremely dishonest administration to deflect, deny and project on others.

The 1/19/17 article does not say ANYTHING to confirm this. Just read it yourselves here:

When they arrive in the US, they certainly do (and even undocumented or illegal aliens do). I'll take the opportunity to explain how. This is from Zadvydas v. Davis et al, a 2001 US Sup Court decision:

"Once an alien enters the country, the legal circumstance changes, for
the Due Process Clause applies to all "persons" within the United
States, including aliens, whether their presence here is lawful,
unlawful, temporary, or permanent. See Plyler v. Doe, 457 U. S. 202, 210

The doc, who weighed in on the campaign with his famous "healthiest individual ever elected POTUS", is merely stating the obvious. All these comments do is pants the earlier hyperbole for what it was. Don't like it? Don't read it.

Couple of distinctions from the past apply here:

First, Michael Brown is not in the picture. This author apparently has forgotten the lightning rod for criticism he was.

Second, Obama was asked to stay away by Gov Edwards because of the logistical headache.

Even if Obama had gone, I'm sure someone would've bitched about something or other no matter.

Sadly I think there's a mindset of 'burn it all down and let's start again'. And by all, I mean everything.

Most of these folks - even the elderly ones - really do not recall the turmoil that was the great depression or what exactly the consequences are of what they want politically. A congress with an over 90% disapproval rate, yet the electorate puts over 80% of them back in office? Clearly there is a disconnect in understanding you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

That's not to acknowledge there are a lot of problems, I'm just a believer that those problems get grossly magnified by the current scorched earth mentality common with some alleged conservatives.

The title of this is a bit disingenuous and totally chomps down on the bait Trump is laying.

First off, he worded it such he wasn't asking for the Russians to hack her email - but to "find" them... presumably the ones he and the rest of the Republicans are convinced that have been hidden/deleted and constitute some sort of Benghazi smoking gun.

Secondly this is tried and true method of hijacking the headlines. The DNC is in full swing, yet here he is leading the stories at NPR as well as any number of media outlets which is exactly his strategy. The way to defeat him is not by repeating his name.

The mistake was launching a coup at all at this point. The coup was doomed by events that took place years ago. They guy is breaking the democratic and secular tradition in Turkey by turning it in on itself. Erdo was democratically (albeit suspect) elected and will use this as a means to consolidate executive power further while pointing at the hypocrisy of the west for whatever perceived reasons. If he hasn't blamed the US, he will soon. The hypocrisy behind his use of social media was a classic dictatorship movie updated to today.

The chances of Erdogan losing an election in the future now? Laughable. His opponents best shot at getting him out of office was in any of the previous elections.

The whole mess is really just a loss overall for Turkey. God knows what lies ahead for them.

Between Russia and Turkey a new form of gov't has been invented: the shamocracy.

Ran out of Lebanon, traded missiles for hostages with Iran, was shocked to learn the USSR thought Able Archer was more than just an exercise, was distressed by "The Day After" which came out about a month after Able Archer and ended up almost negotiating away all ballistic missiles a few years later.

Yeah, that pragmatic guy would be treated so much different than Obama. Reagan wouldn't even have gotten the nomination from today's Republican party let alone be the tough guy everyone seems to want to paint him as being.
