I think perhaps terry was wondering about how the patch itself works (hence the "commentary" request).

It looks to me like the patch moves the array allocation out of _RunEpollOnce() into the header file.

My question: why does this help? If _RunEpollOnce() is only getting called once, shouldn't it be the same as allocating in the header file? Why does this decrease the allocation size?
