I wonder... does it reflect the rapid decline in the sale of other types of inventory (ie single family homes) or the idea that money has moved to new build product. What say you Steve? Your assumptions bleed with your implied bias. It's hard to read anything you write and not hear you making assumptions and writing off massive numbers of unique individuals. You just clump everyone who disagrees with you in your pot of distaste and don't have anything to add that changes minds or makes much sense.

You even contradict yourself as you "rob us of adding value as a conscious, intelligent agent."

Your point about money laundering is the only intelligent thing you've said. Everything else seems to be simply your personal opinion and some deep seated hate you have for the concerns of others. Wish you'd add to the conversation or admit others have points but it seems obvious from what you post that you are likely beyond hope.

Growth is inevitable. Empty neighbourhoods are not.

Re: Soaring house assessments destroying Vancouver

Forget growing into a big city. I don't know many Vancouverites in this land locked paradise who are interested in that. Let's at least have people contributing to the city living in the homes in the city. Let's be a world class city that doesn't feel the need to 'grow large' with empty properties where the benefits are largely from property transfer taxes and for developers and the real estate industry. The spoils of this city aren't increased properties values as the article clearly states they are the lifestyle its location and amenities provide. Never say never. There are a large number of locals helping drive this market.

Re: Soaring house assessments destroying Vancouver

Just wait until your neighbourhood is half empty. Then the entire westside and then... who knows. It's become offside that the government is doing nothing about it. "Allen how would you feel if we took actions that decreased your property value?" Sounds like you'd say "Great! At least then there'd be people living in the houses around mine." The neighbourhood I grew up in in the 80s was half empty in the late 90s now it is 70-90% empty... A dead neighbourhood. That's where we are in a lot of places are headed for in most neighbourhoods in Vancouver.

This is not a foreign investment or domestic investment argument this is a living neighbourhood argument. We should not allow our city be a safe haven for global and domestic investors without major costs to do so. Other cities globally take steps to mitigate the ghost neighbourhoods phenomenon and we should too.

We should be a thriving city full of life and families and people who work in the city. We can't be the 'greenest city' when everyone drives in from the Fraser Valley because they have no choice. Let's get off our duffs and hold our government accountable to us the people that live and work in Vancouver. Who not only pay property taxes but income taxes and spend their income largely within the city. We should not be supporting the very wealthy special interests foreign and domestic that continue to lobby and present 'facts' better than citizens to the halls of power. I for one have had enough.

Re: Win an $1800 weekend getaway to CIMC 2015 in Squamish

Thanks! I couldn't agree more. I am especially saddenned to see banks particularly in Canada that have 13 Twitter accounts to spew promotional material and NONE that provide customer service. If you have 1 Twitter account it should provide customer service. If you have 13 at least 4 of them should provide customer service.

Re: Reporter accused of plagiarism tells Poynter his side of the story, but inaccurately

Brilliant analysis and follow up. The scenario is built in close coordination with the client to establish and test their workflows while simulating the type of environment they will experience in times of greater communications needs.

The event usually last a few hours and is done to simulate a multiday event. Afterwards our team makes recommendations, shares best practices and highlights positives while enabling our clients to test out their communications, workflows and processes for when a real event hits.

Re: Fire Drills: Social Business Crises Simulation

Hi Jeremiah,

Great to read about other organizations doing this type of work.

At HootSuite in our Professional Services division this is a service we have been conducting for a variety of clients in specific verticals including energy, government and media.

We build custom scenarios with our clients and input our expertise to assist in workflows, persona building and best practices. She was carrying cables aplenty for all devices. On the trade show floor it was nice to sit down in a booth on the couch and charge both my iPhone and the battery case pack. One night I was at a party at Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop and the person I was speaking suddenly pulled out a battery pack as big as an Apple TV with 10 USB charging ports on it. It was amazing how we quickly became the heart of the party. Let it be known that being useful helps any organization stand out whether marketing, service or street promotions.

This reinforces my belief that being helpful is at the core of modern marketing. The best swag at SXSWi was the USB Keys, the sunscreen, food, sunglasses, ponchos, umbrellas, skateboards, drinks, charging of devices and more; the useful things. When creating swag for SXSWi organizations must create something that people will want or need to keep on their desks.

Nice write up!

Re: Looking for a Better HootSuite?
