(my mom makes yogurt!)

I enjoy your blog, and think you are so generous!!! it's been fun commenting, and waiting to see who the lucky winners are.

Re: Book Recommendations

ok, just told my 5yo this joke last night, while watching European skating championships... (he didn't get it, yet!)

An old man decides to go ice fishing, walks out on the deserted ice, starts drilling a hole. He doesn't get far boreing when he hears a loud voice, "there are no fish there.". The man looks around, sees no one, shrugs, but gets up and moves over a bit, and starts a new hole. Again, he hears a loud voice from out of nowhere, "there are no fish there.". He shrugs again, gets up, moves to a new spot on the ice and starts to drill... this time he hears the voice again, a bit exasperated, "I said, there are no fish there!". The man again looks around, sees no one, and just has to ask, "who are you, God?" ... the voice answers, "no, I'm the skating rink manager!".

:)

Re: The Book of Yarn

A book i love, and my siblings too, is All the Rivers Run, by Nancy Cato. My mom discovered the book ages ago, and gave it to my sister to read (making her promise to tell me/other sibs nothing), and then I got the book when I was old enough, and then my bro, then my youngest sis. (This isn't a kid book, tho! It's a real novel. My mom encouraged early reading!!!)

my mom could ALWAYS tell where we were in the book, when we all gasped, screamed, cried, etc.... as there is a big "twist" in the book that no one expects.. but I won't spoil it for ya;)!

It's a great novel, set in Australia, during the time of paddle boats and eventually steamer boats. It's awesome!:)

(then have to say as other books I love that I read over and over would be all the Jane Austen books!)

Re: Homesick

While knitting happens a lot more often (constantly??? in free time, anyway!), my other hobby is outdoorsy:
hiking/picnicking in the mts, and either cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or sledding with my guys (DH, DS).
If we aren't at work, or at home, then you are almost sure to find us out and about in the TienShien mts.
So, a nice bulky cormo smooshy, warm lovely cable sweater would be awesome! It would be great for BOTH my hobbies:)... lots of knitting, and then warm comfort when out and about...

I can really picture it! hope I win;)!

Re: Winners! I would like to knit up a sweater called Frosting, which is a cable and eyelet turtleneck sweater, from Knitter's magazine (fall 2007). yum!:)

and of course, if any yarn would be left over, a scarf for MY paul bunyan, who is not nearly sooo large;).
