Have the community had a say on its future? I can't recall ever seeing an invitation to comment. I see this as a rare opportunity to create a central park (like Fitzroy Gardens). This would give Wodonga the centrepiece we have been lacking. The old station could incorporate cafes, galleries and possible the site could later incorporate an arts centre (with an ampitheatre?). The park could be a simple open space with wide paths, lawns and trees. It could be used for markets and events, giving Woodland Grove back as a War Memorial. It would mean that only modest improvements of High Street would be necessary as the park would be the focal point. If we let this opportunity go we will not see another for a long time, if ever. I'm concerned when the council talk about development, surely there is plenty of space for more shopping (old Manns site, along Reid Street), but once it's sold off it's too late. If the land belongs to railcorp they can grant it to the people of Wodonga for community use. Not everything should be about commercial development. What do you think?</p>
