At the end, after Hart talks about the dark having more territory, Cohle says he's looking at it wrong. "The light's winning." I'm paraphrasing but, then again, I wasn't tasked with writing a recap of the show. To me, that line is necessary and a wonderful way to feel a little hope for his future--which we'll never see, of course. Also, the woman is said to be "at least" half-sister to Errol.
I guess it's my fault for reading a recap in the International Business Times but somehow it was at the top of search results for Yellow King. Oh, well. Live and learn.

Of all this year's movies about a dystopian future, this looks the smartest. It's made by the director of District 9, which I enjoyed, and the cast is excellent. Even though this theme has been explored many, many (did I mention many?) times before, this movie looks like an interesting take.

My coworkers used to call me Mary Poppins because no matter what they needed, I had it: wipes to take stains off a silk tie, nail polish for pantyhose runs and a tiny sewing kit--the kind I'd take out of my bag when I'd used one color but never throw away. I have my medical records on a thumb drive in a credit card style holder but I don't think anyone will look for it so I have an ICE sticker over the top. Let's see: migraine medication, Benadryl--this is fun! I am proud of myself that I only carry one Band Aid but, come to think of it, that doesn't seem like enough....
The other day I spilled coffee over everything in my purse. I have to reconstruct every page of my Filofax! But you are making me feel almost lucky that I don't write much. 968 pages would break my back for sure. (You're also making me want to smoke a cigarette. Argh!)

Although I agree with your opinion about this piece, I feel your argument would have greater impact were it written well. To criticize "writing skills" while neglecting to take the couple of seconds it would take to spell out "you" or use proper punctuation gives this site no reason to take your opinion seriously.

Satire always runs the risk of offending. Indeed, if it's inoffensive and not one reader is foolish enough to think it's a true news piece, it probably isn't satire. Whether it's funny or not is a different thing entirely. It's the reason that I've considered unsubscribing many times. Maybe I will. For now, I'll keep reading and decide if the funny pieces warrant slogging through the dross.

As for admonishing someone to get a life? The last time that was funny was when William Shatner said it to a Trekkie in an SNL skit. It impresses no one, nuts numb or no.

I don't hear any uproar about the man-whores who get Viagra on their insurance plans. Telling Rush to shut the f*ck up is an excellent idea. And Mitt says he wouldn't have used those words? Does that mean he also agrees with Rush that women using birth control should have to provide men with free Internet porn? I can see why you want to stop giving this more attention but it gets more sickening by the day.

I like how you used the same person for comparison's sake. I wish there had been an original photo of her lips without pigment. Since so many lipsticks are sheer, the underlying color affects the result. In any case, I agree that the colors don't look the same on as the tube or pencil suggest. It looks like you used the same lighting in each photo.Thanks for that.

So blatant. They held on a bit longer on NY1 News. I thought it was canny of her to try to fit in as much as she could before the nets broke away. I'm sure she knew that would happen. She was given shorter shrift on CNN, I see now. Especially galling was the way the audio kept drifting in and out. I heard Pelosi talking about Medicaid then the anchor saying, "So... nothing now on Anthony Weiner." I remember when CNN used to be better this. But I'm old and that was a long time ago.

Though there are politicians who have done worse and stayed, the fact remains that he can no longer work effectively in Congress. Republicans seem to have a much higher tolerance for aberrant behavior. They circle the wagons immediately.

As each successive photo surfaced, it became clear that Weiner had to go. He should have gone sooner but his ego was bigger than his genitalia. I'm hearing rumblings about redistricting due to his resignation. It remains to be seen what damage has been done. Unlike Spitzer, Weiner didn't screw any strange women, but he's certainly screwed New York.

You're right. It was a disgusting rant that he tried to disguise as humor. I've made jokes that others have found offensive--nothing is sacred--but it makes me think about what I'm saying. Would it be funny to someone less sensitive? Even so, is it just thoughtless?

But I didn't mean to imply Tracy Morgan's tirade was benign. It was reprehensible. In any case, your point about his being unworthy of 30 Rock is true, too.

Although I believe that every comedian has the right to be unfunny--comedy pushes boundaries and it doesn't always work--this simply proves your point and my contention that Tracy Morgan is the weakest member of the 30 Rock cast.

It doesn't matter what color he is. 30 Rock has an excellent ensemble cast. Jane Krakowski plays a despicable character on the show but is still entertaining. It's not clear where Tracy Morgan the annoying character ends and Tracy Morgan the douchebag begins.

This isn't about being politically correct, is it? It's about the guy not being funny.

I'm not sure why many New Yorkers want him to stay in office or even run for mayor. Maybe he's a good congressman--isn't that an oxymoron?--but how can anyone trust his judgment? He'll never get anything done in Congress now. He apparently never screwed anyone, except everyone in New York and the Democratic party. At least Bill and Eliot Spitzer got some action--not to mention Republicans like John Ensign, David Vitter, etc. etc. The only person who gets excited by looking at a boner is the man himself. It's like a little boy going, "Look what I can do!" We get it. Resign so I can get you off my tv set.

I've always heard that a drowning person will pull you under before you can save him. I see it as a reminder that I need to watch out for my own psychological self-preservation when no one else will. Though I'm sure I would have thought of this had I been standing on the shore, I'd like to think I could have enlisted a couple guys to go in with me to help. When you get one person in a group moving, others will follow. But I would do it knowing that my decency might be repaid with a lawsuit.

The budget cuts are foul and probably cost that man his life. New York City is proposing charging a fee for ambulance service, even if you're unconscious and bleeding to death. I hope I won't be bankrupted by an accident. The truth about the loss of social services is ugly and easy to ignore--except when you see something like this.

It's easy to write this guy off. It sounds like he didn't want to die.Even if he did how could others stand by and do nothing? Did no one yell to him? Did anyone even try to talk him back with a bullhorn or something? Was he, in some way, entertainment for them? How else to explain going in to get him after he died.

I thought this was a hilarious headline. As you said, it would be if it weren't true.

My mojo goes missing quite often. I have a stack 3x5 cards with ideas, but I worry that most of them are lousy. When I write something that I think is good, it exerts pressure on me not to disappoint next time by writing a "filler" post. Then there's inertia.

My brother suggested a series of housekeeping posts--spring cleaning the one-liners and bad puns. I keep waiting for crazy things to inspire me--Charlie Sheen, Mr. Weiner--but I find myself more disgusted than amused nowadays. That's not conducive to writing.

But I have enjoyed writing about my lack of mojo. Hopefully, that and your excellent suggestions will get my motor revving again. Thank you.
