I'm glad you kept yourself healthy. Cheers to the next seasons, whether they're a Renaissance or, at least, just a little less #HomeAlone time.

Re: You are entitled to a refund for your canceled flight — even if the airline says you aren’t

TAP is an offender on this. I had bookings that I'd even upgraded to their "Top Executive" status partly because they're supposed to be fully refundable, and they're still making the process miserable, so if anyone figures out the trick to jumping through all their hoops and getting an actual refund, let me know.

Re: SXSW PanelPicker®

I'm a fan of people who have succeeded in one career path and can draw parallels to another part of life. It seems, though, as if you're postulating a framework of either heavier protest or heavier political involvement, when both/and seems necessary and inevitable. I think of DeRay Mckesson announcing his bid for mayor of Baltimore, and it seems like the perfect 2016 marriage of protest and politics. My bet is that this next generation of influential political voices, whether initially successful in gaining office or not, introduces vocabulary and ideas to the mainstream that makes it far more likely to gain widespread recognition of systemic oppressions and injustices, and that THAT sets the stage for the next major leap forward. At least that's my fervent hope.

Thanks for the great article.

Re: NTC Weekly Member Spotlight 7.28.14 | Blog | Built By, With and For Nashville Technologists

Nice profile, Travis! There was a spirited Twitter discussion about what a better visualization of these organizations might be, with a mind-map being one suggested solution. On the next rainy weekend, we'll put out an impromptu call for a community brainstorming over beer to sketch it out in a different way. As well as to, y'know, drink beer. Using this approach, cucumbers with peel come in about 17.3%. Without peel, about 19.7%. I don't know how they arrived at 24%, but by this measure their protein content is not 0%.

Re: vegetable protein

I see how they arrived at the 49% for spinach. In the USDA listing for raw spinach (http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb..., it shows that there are 23 kilocalories of energy and 2.86 g of protein per 100 g. Since the energy density of protein is 4 kcal/gram, they would have multiplied 2.86 g of protein by 4 kcal/gram to get 11.44 kilocalories, and then divided that into 23 kilocalories to get .497, or 49.7% of the kilocalories represented are from protein.

Having said that, though, I haven't validated the rest of the list, so I cannot vouch for the relative percentages.

Re: Kelley on Women in Startups: 3 Things we can learn from Tina Fey

Thanks for the shout-out! I was just not prepared for how completely pervasive the music culture is. Everywhere you go, everyone you meet has SOME connection to music, whether they moved here (as I did) to build a career in it and got distracted but still carry the love of it in their day-to-day lives, or they live and work alongside music professionals and know a lot about it by proximity, or any other variation - it's everywhere. And that's pretty cool in a way that's hard to convey without experiencing it first-hand.

Re: How to Find An Incredible Wife In 71 Easy Steps

Beautiful and rings very true.
