If you search 'firearms training relocation CT' there is a pdf you can read about their proposal - most of the evaluation on impact has not been done but it talks about intended usage. Also you can go search 'Courtney to Currey Griswold' where it explains the possible usage of East Haven.

Cops are not always on duty, strictly speaking and I am sure it depends on the circumstances. I don't even know how the jurisdictions would apply, an officer from another jurisdiction would not be on duty unless the supervisory authority over police is there to authorize them in some capacity. It may depend on each state. Being duty bound does not mean it will translate to availability to be on duty.

Sorry but having my property value drop is not BS to me! The state office did tell me over the phone that it will be 24 hour access with some night training, there was a track that was gonna be built for drive by practice but they supposedly pulled that- aside just because they say it won't be at first who says they can't expand and do whatever they want.

No one said they had a problem with the cops - this is a huge project that requires transparency in cost and impact on traffic, economy, environment, taxes, property values and use of state's budget in the most efficient way (like fixing Simsbury site or collaborating with other facilities).

The troopers coming to train will be off duty - they will get off the exit, go straight to the range, practice and go home- unlikely they can respond. If you don't care about your community or the environmental impact, there are fiscal consideration of paying for this massive thing when the state is already in deficit, as well as raising your taxes and lowering your property values.

There is a lot of misinformation about the actual usage of the facility. It will allow for 125 parking with indoor, outdoor training. It has been mentioned that there will be night training exercises, as well as swat team exercises. I called the state Representative and was told it would have 24 hour access. If you live less than a half mile from the center this will affect your lifestyle. People are not anti police they are worried about property values dropping and having their serenity taking away. There are other options, according to Joe Courtney there are other facilities that are eager to collaborate with the state including East Haven. You also have to consider the cost. You can support your troopers and cops and have a right not to hear rounds on a daily basis coming from possibly at least 100 people.
