yes! UV is a great way to kill bacteria.
Only cautions would be the deterioration of the bottles over time and the material make up of the PVC as UV can facilitate chemical reactions and leakage into the water.
Also, it should be used ASAP after taken out of the sun, as UV treatment effects are not long term.

And turbidity of the water is an issue. UV treatment not effective if the water is muddy etc. so it's best used on filtered water first.

.... just in case you're thinking of trying this at home.
