We have 15 registration codes to give away

First, let me thank you for the opportunity. Here is a quick list of things that would improve the TNW experience for me personally.

Your rightmost sidebar is what I’d first would want to change. As it is now, it steals too much of my attention, forcing me to skim the articles rather than actually reading them. Compared to the actual content, it is large and colorful, constantly battling for my attention. I do understand that you need the money from advertisement, and thus want to keep people engaged on TNW, but don’t let the reading experience suffer because of it. After all, we are here for your writing, not your ads. The reading experience on your tablet page is by comparison much better. Keep the content in center, first and foremost, and put the related articles widget somewhere else. I’m much more likely to want to navigate to the next article after I’m done reading, than I am while I’m reading.

The fixed top bar is annoying for the same reason, something that can be fixed by making it collapsible. I’m not sure I want to recommend the article before I’m done reading it.

Secondly, I often come here to read more about stories that already have been broken, not for actual breaking news. I would really like you to write more opinion pieces and features on the technologies you write about, instead of just the seven sentence long paragraph that I could read anywhere else on the web. Long form writing is a dying craft on the Internet, unfortunately.

Lastly I must say that I really liked and miss the Daily Dose podcast. They provided me with a bite sized tidbit of news that I could consume as went about other activities.

Re: Google Is Sending Out Rewards To Users Who Found All The Pokémon In The April Fools Map Hunt [Update]

I too got all. Did. Not. Invent. Video. Calling. It has been around for years (soon to be decades). It has not caught on for various reasons.

I, for one, like to call in my underwear. I like to be able to answer a call without caring how my hair is, the length of the boogers running out of my nose, or if I'm on the toilet or in a porn shop.

There might however be a slight chance that Apple will popularize it, and it will be used.

Re: In the Trunk: The Tiny Doxie Scanner (plus a giveaway)

This scanner being portable, I would take it back home to my parents and scan all memorabilia from backpacker trips I've done in the past.

Also, scan my girlfriend's mindboggingly huge pile of scraps collected from magazines.

All in all, this scanner would absolutely get a good home in my apartment ;)

Re: In the Trunk: The Tiny Doxie Scanner (plus a giveaway)

This scanner being portable, I would take it back home to my parents and scan all memorabilia from backpacker trips I've done in the past.

Also, scan my girlfriend's mindboggingly huge pile of scraps collected from magazines.

All in all, this scanner would absolutely get a good home in my apartment ;)

Re: Something new arrives on July 14th. At the time, game consoles did not allow an optimal sound reproduction, and Michael found it frustrating. He did not want to be associated with a product that devalued his music…"

Might not have been the only reason. Remember that he is uncredited in the Simpsons episode he starred in. He also wrote "Do The Bartman" for The Simpsons, also (initially) uncredited.

Re: Twitter Giveaway Contest: Westin Travel Blanket

Just tweeted from @kartoffelmos :)

Re: Twitter Giveaway Contest: Westin Travel Blanket

Just tweeted from @kartoffelmos :)

Re: How To Easily Download YouTube High Definition Videos

While it may be more powerful, it does not provide neither AVI nor MP4 downloads (from what I can see on the website), and thus needs to be converted before being playable on a different device than a computer. Facebook is 'just another profile'. They do not care that it's not _their_ friend list, but Facebooks list of their friend. Sad, but true. Not to say that Data Portability and Friend Connect and the likes does not matter, I believe they do. If only to the handful of us that care. Maybe peoples view will change in the future. Maybe they will care about what really is _their_ data, not Facebooks.

Re: Adobe launches Photoshop Express update with Flickr support

Am I the only one experiencing muliple (and by multiple, I mean 10-20) warnings that even though there's supposed to be an encrypted connection (https) data will be sent to a third party? In this case it is api.photoshop.com. It's probably nothing, but it still makes me cautious about giving it access to my Flickr account.

And why does it have to be so hard typing my email-adress for login? For some reason, it refuses to recognize the '@' (I can access it through use of copy-paste).

Re: Why We Need Web Apps on the Desktop

somehow i feel that by using web based apps i'm stepping back to the days before tab based browsing. think about it, isn't 5 web apps spread amidst 20 "regular" web pages a lot like the cluttered start bar of the internet explorer? only with less security (winamp crashes - aw, shucks, but in the case of a browser crash, strong similarity to an os-crash).

Re: Fav.or.it: RSS Reader with Integrated Commenting Launches Public Beta

Is there a poosibility that I could recieve an invite to this?
