Each piece is different, and made by me alone. Galleries are disappearing here in the states and few shops buy fine craft outright anymore. I'm pleased to hear that you've figured out a way to reach a good audience for your bags!!

Re: Steve Karlin and Susie Bear

Lovely. For years and YEARS afterwards she was able to justify buying fun things here and there! I'll have to think about the "extra" money concept ... the idea doesn't come easily. (I like the library ladder idea, but I'd have to build a library first!)

Re: A Dame and a Dodo

What a great post. Also, regarding health services, there is an 'availability' difference. The quality may be the same for rich and poor, but if you can't pay for it, the quality is irrelevant.

Re: http://scandinaviankitchens.com/post/5925679244

One of the first things I do every year when I get to the island (in Norway) is to gather wildflowers for the table.

Re: http://scandinaviankitchens.com/post/9938480224

Beautiful space. Unlike Sunday afternoon flea markets where venders might sit and socialize as a reason to be there, the more high end the show, the more the artist has probably invested to be there. They are there to sell. I've heard comments like "I should have left my credit card at home," or worse ... "I left my credit card at home on purpose."
... just saying.

Re: Street Talk Commentary: The BLM Censoring Wild Horse Roundups - KLAS-TV Channel 8 News Las Vegas

Thank-you for this and the earlier reports, and for the interest in bring all this to light.

Re: Chelsea Flower Show

Love the veggies! I've seen the best and worst of egos at play since then. One of the most positive experiences I've had was watching videos of a conference hosted by the US Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia http://bit.ly/7gWkMq (The video's sound isn't good but the cross cultural discussion was. Kent Collins, David Mathison, and J. Eric Braun were the guest speakers from the US.)

Re: What Everyone Wants

Growing up I had parents who always believed in me and thought what I did was wonderful. (I was "artistic.") After a while though, I wasn't sure I believed them. I knew that not everything I did was good. But, they were "consistent" and so I listened to their love, if not always to their words.

As a grownup, it's harder to find people who take the time or make the effort to believe in others. Life has gotten more complex. Finding those rare stars, make it all worth it.

Re: How Friendships Are Changing

Friendships I've made over the internet have the virtue of being nurtured in a way that the older ones, based on history aren't. Because I use social media as part of my business, these new friends share activities that I'm involved with on a daily basis so we can actively update each other without much effort. Recently a few of my longest kept friends have started to become more internet active, and that has been a joy.

Also, as I get older, I need different things in a friendship. Nothing can compare to having a close friend there to hug when I really need it, but I've found people via the internet with whom I have more in common than those who live in town with me. I cherish the connections I've made. Will they last and survive the test of time? ... We'll see. And in the meantime, I'm having fun introducing the groups to each other!
