I read something yesterday about a few radar systems being set up. It's not a lot. They don't have major military radar.

The transmitter and dish are the easy part. Kids make 'em as science fair projects. Making sense of the return signal is what costs a lot to replace.

It was considered, though.

That's why Trump started destroying their economy in 2017. He was able to swing deals that continued destroying it even whole out of office. Then brought down the economic hammer by heavy sanctions and tariffs, then grabbing Maduro and taking firm control of our hemisphere. All while building up the Abraham Accords.

He started "considering" it 40 years ago.

Their military is not some emplaced regiment. They live in random houses in towns, and they aren't out doing exercises.

People saying "finish it" have no concept of what that means. NONE. So they resort to analogies like football to say, "get it across the line."

*** My contention is that the two biggest factors of WWII, which are:

1) Ruthless overkill, as at Dresden and Hiroshima
2) An enforceable Yalta Conference Agreement and Japanese Instrument of Surrender, both backed by the Soviet Union and Britain.

What enabled that much power to be used ruthlessly was the backing by two empires with (relatively) unchanging heads of state. Same goes for the enforcement phase.

The US can't enforce anything when Dems can come along and undo it on a whim.

Everyone considered their resolve. It's not like we haven't gone through this over and over again. We've had serial killers do the same thing.

They play crybully, over and over till you catch them, then when you put them on The Chair they laugh and say you lose, because you couldn't stop them without killing them. So haha they won.

It's nothing new. We went through it with Arafat three or four times. Then Hamas. Rinse/repeat.

As to your 2 choices, #1 is what we've been doing through 7 presidencies. It didn't work. It will never work. That's not what Trump is doing. I may not know exactly what he's doing, but it ain't that.

As for #2, no president is going to go fullbore Firebombing of Dresden on them. Not Trump, not Vance or Rubio, not any other candidate from any party. Screw the lack of support for it internationally, there's no support for it here.***

We can do targeted eliminations. bomb some more bridges. I suspect we'll see some of those soon. We can force open the strait. But Trump loves having it closed for several America benefitting reasons, so he's in no rush to guarantee that.

So far the only thing on the table that shirks this sh*tshow off of our backs, and prevents a Dem president from re-arming the f**kers, is to hand control off to some local group.

That's going to require agreements or treaties. Deals, in Trump's terms.

If there's no deal, we're in permanent quagmire, whether we "go" or stay.

Grassley is pretty good on a lot of things. He's one of the better GOP senators. He's no Mike Lee, but few are.

The Blue Slip idea was to prevent a Dem president from putting a hard left Judge in a red state region's district court, and vice-versa. So it had a purpose that seems good.

The blue slips quickly turned into party-only slips.

So they are stuck keeping them, because no senator will give up that power. That means they need to modify them. Maybe one use per vacancy, or maybe instead of flat out vetoing a pick, use the slip to subject their case history to a bipartisan constitutional review.
