I won’t go into what WILL happen, but any plan for a secret post-marriage Masuhiro assassination is a little hampered by that info getting out.

It’s a lot harder to backstab someone who has been warned ahead of time that their new family is fond of the old hug-and-stab.

While Hirotomo could try to do that anyway, his other options are:
- Obey the spirit and intent of the original treaty (peace, albeit under terms he doesn’t like)
- Reject the previously accepted treaty and reveal that peace was never his intent.

In the interest of fun and challenging conversation, I try to avoid moderating comments as much as possible. But ad hominem attacks (intentional, unintentional, or even humorously incorrect) and other incivilities also don’t help that goal.

That line has been approached and crossed a few times in this thread. Please avoid it, or step away from the conversation. If things are that bad, the likely outcome probably isn’t worth your time. Thanks!

Before the volume 1 book re-write, Yori managed to speak an entire sentence in the time it took a beam of light to travel from Ryoku’s sword to Yori’s eyes.

I'm both thrilled and disappointed with Yang's reveal in the remake.

The disembodied voice of a mysterious alliance savior is pretty badass. It makes the reveal of Yang's normal laid back attitude all the more endearing.

Unfortunately, it made the first half of the second episode pretty redundant and robbed Yang of a little of his magic. This was somewhat mitigated by their decision to pull an awesome plot point from the original book - Yang's plan to encode his fleet commands before the final confrontation.

I hope Iserlohn's design is more like the original anime than the book.

Pratchett expresses this in several books.

Lord Rust was called out for it in Jingo. I suspect that isn’t the only time, though.

I faintly recall William de Word (possibly my 2nd or 3rd favorite character in the series) mocking the idea in Truth.

Finally, it just seems likely to have come up in Monstrous Regiment - considering it was all about the folly of war and the value of those fighting on the front lines.
