I live in Michigan; unless you are off-duty/undercover LEO, you cannot conceal carry in certain gun-free-zones; schools being one of them. However MI laws do allow someone with a Concealed Pistol License (they are CPLs here not CCW) to OPEN CARRY in one of the specified gun-free-zones.

Therefore the only LEGAL way this parent could have a firearm on school grounds in MI is if they OPEN CARRY. The law does allow you to store your firearm in your car and to have it with you in the parking lot of a school if you're picking-up dropping off.

He was not being a show-off; just complying with the law. Wish you had done a bit more research on Michigan laws before you wrongfully criticized this individual.

While not "premium lights" both Mag-Lite and Pelican have lifetime warranties and replacement policies. The fact you didn't send them in or know this troubles me.

I picked one up the other day. It's a nice tool, about 2.5" long and as thick as the thickest key on my key-ring. One word of caution (and probably as a result of it being made in China) The standard "ruler" is not accurate. What they mark as 1" is actually 7/8" inch. The mm measurement on the opposite side ARE accurate.

Overall a very nice tool for the money, maybe the best QPR (Quality to Price Ratio) out there, and a gateway into the OPMT market.

Tony: I've had Vibram 5-finger shoes for 3+years and have a few pairs. Regarding your thoughts on stubbing your toe; I've found it's not an issue. One thing Vibram recommends, and I concur, is to "set" or "lock" your heel back as far as it goes and then tighten the strap as tightly as is comfortable without cutting off circulation.

A mistake I made early on when getting used to them (and when becoming lazy putting them on) was not to lock my heel all the way back. If you allow your toes to go more to the front of the toe-pockets, you will have more fatigue and soreness because the toes are being spread-apart more (and forcefully).

Having your heel back also gives you a 1/4-1/2 inch (depending on the toe) of buffer and cushion to prevent stubbing and to make it a non-event if you do stumble or hit something. I've found people stepping on top of your feet and not watching where they're going more painful than anything else.

Also they are a delight to drive in as well for long trips with much less foot fatigue.

Gary, why would "smart refrigerators" be "bad" for WalMart, Costco and Target? If they're smart they'll embrace the change and have your order ready for you to pick up and ready to go. Unless they create some sort of delivery service (or sub-contract out the delivery of your items). I see it as a positive thing for retailers not a negative. I can already "ship-to-store" for online shopping, this would just be an extension of that.

This Inc article is missing on VERY key point that was made in the news story that is linked to in the second paragraph. This pharmacist would likely have been shot and possibly killed if the robbers weapon hadn't jammed when he attempted to shoot him immediatley after jumping over the counter. The story says the gunman pulled the trigger three times without the gun firing. There is absolutely no question that this employee's life was in danger and he acted in self-defense. I feel your Constitutional Right to live and legally defend yourself trumps the rule of any company. Can Wallgreen's instill a no-weapons policy for their employees, yes. Can the employee choose not to work there because of the policy, yes. It does seem there is an absense of such a rule and he was fired for "exclating" the situation; whereas its the gunman who after attempting to fire his weapon is the one who caused the empoyee to take action; only AFTER that attempt. As a consumer I will also chose NOT to shop at Wallgreens anymore and give that business to CVS and RiteAid for the way they acted in this situation.

Gary, the most supreme congratulations for reaching 900 shows! I've been away from WLTV for a few months and have rarely seen any WLTVs but HAD to see #900; yes I know I was even worse than a lurker. I know you're even more busy than you have ever been, but I commend you for keeping your committment to the wine community by pumping out more shows.

It was great to see your aler-ego Sir Gary; a fake/horrible British accent would have made it even more funny along with a silver-plated champange bucket. HAHA Just realized that so much could be taken out of context if people don't really know you...in the wrong hands you just bashed 99% of the wine consumers. A fun way for me to get back into WLTV. Best of luck for the next several hundred WLTV episodes.

Competition is key to the American economy, because if you only had one option then the provider chold charge whatever they wanted and you as a consumer would have no say.

Capitalism and freep-market economies are all about competition otherwise you start heading into as Socialist or Communist economy.

I still laugh at this and I've heard it 5+ times. You sound like death when you answer the phone but perk up in 1.35 seconds to "full Gary" with your "This is Gary!" reply...and the fact you had your where-with-all to come up with the "Crush Off!" response for him without cracking up at 5AM is impressive.

QOTD: I like Top Gear too; in addition the various Gordon Ramsey shows on BBC America always keep my attention. Wacting a lot of Pawn Stars on History, like Man v Food and Food Wars on Travel Channel. And of course watching the new Season of Celebrity Apprentice...and I'm a sucker for America's Next Top Model (there's nothing wrong with watching models on TV as I see it).

I can't wait until the new season of Entourage myself.

Coppola has certinaly transcented "celebrity" with "winemaker" (and of course there are "celebrity-winemakers" too. He may be better known now for his wine for the younger generations than his movies.

Same goes with Greg Norman, until his recent British Open almost-win most knew him for wine, not golf. The key is the fruit, letting the terrior speak for itself and having someone who really knows what they're doing managing the process.

QOTD1: Yes I have had Canadian wine, some of the best from the Pelee Island Winerey (of course on Pelee Island wich is the southernmost inhabited portion of Canada. Its a great experiecne to get there on the ferry boats and have a great outdoor picnic and grilling area where you purchase meat to grill and have with your wine surrounded by the vineyards....everyone should try it.

Check out their site at peleeisland[dot]com They have an amazing vidal ice wine too...nectar of the gods.

QOTD2: Loving the questions....probably the result of the 2008 US election; I'm sure there are plenty of more but I try to block them out and move on without dwelling on them.

PS--What is the "shuffling cards" sound that I hear in the background....oh got it some photograpgher's shutter clicking. What article/piece is that for?
