You would have given up much earlier.

Maybe it's just that this article targets readers with a better ability for abstraction and more openness to new things?

Honestly, if you know a bit of ruby, you should be able to read some Elixir syntax fairly easily. Regarding the japanese characters, it makes some sense given that the ruby language was invented by a japanese dude. I don't know japanese, but it's a cute tribute to that. And you're right, it could have been any other string of characters. :)

Having seen how pattern matching is being used in languages such as OCaml (similar to F#), I find it pretty interesting to know about that new feature. So I hope that this article won't stop you from using that in the future. :)

Re: Windows 10 Windows Button Not Working [Solved]

That window-key lock was driving me crazy. We should always tell the truth in a loving way. We're all sinners, christians included (and myself at the top of that list). If you sinned against one commandment, it's the same as if you violated all the law (James 2:10).

So as a christian, I sincerely apologize for all the homophobic stuff christians preach. Homosexuality is a sin, yes. But pointing fingers at people is never leading anyone into repentance. It just breeds hatred and a reason to keep sinning, because christians don't represent the grace of Christ. Only the law, which themselves they cannot accomplish (which is the reason they needed Christ in the first place).

-- A christian who's ashamed of other christians

Re: Widespread WordPress Plugins and Themes Security Vulnerability

I don't know for these particular plugins, but there is no tool that covers every security vulnerability out there.

Re: A Comparison of Angular, Backbone, CanJS and Ember

Wow, I didn't know about CanJS, but from what you're saying it looks pretty attractive to me. I wanted people to see me as a Ruby dev instead. I realized that to get Ruby job opportunities, it was more worthwhile to make Ruby dev friends (on twitter and/or in person) rather than stating that i'm not doing any PHP work anymore.

I still get many PHP opportunity, but i just ignore or refuse them.
I still do some personal projects in PHP, but just for things that are really better suited for PHP.
And Yes, there are cases where a tool is better than another, no matter what you already know. For example, you _could_ create a CMS in Node.js, or a realtime app in PHP. It doesn't mean that it makes sense for these tasks.

So, really a great post that i can relate to.

A Ruby and JavaScript developer.

Re: f.lux: software to make your life better

This is awesome.
