Misleading article. You don’t have to “convert” anything. You turn on the optimize option, and everything is handled automatically. Your high res photos are safe on iCloud, your device won’t run out of space, and you can retrieve the full res photos any time by opening the photo on your device.

Albums are still there, metadata is still there, no third party mess.

I still agree that another backup is appropriate, but the default way of saving photos on an iPhone is already automatically keeping them on the cloud safely and indefinitely.

I like the phrase "pre-installed with web versions of Office". So in other words, it includes a browser and a few bookmarks.

After trying this and lots of other tricks, I finally got it working. I then didn’t change anything, but it went back to light mode the next day. I was so disappointed.

I think they just don’t like me.

Amazon isn't exactly the place to price-shop for soda - It's $29 for a 32-pack ($.91/can) on Amazon now, but that's still more than triple what I'd pay at a grocery store. The worst I've ever seen in a grocery store (in Arizona) is $4.99 for a 12-pack ($.42/can), and every few weeks you'll find 12-packs for 3/$10 ($.28/can) or sometimes even 4/$10 ($.21/can) or better.

I'd agree with you when you know for sure that you're being cancelled, but shows like V just might come back. And with a great season finale, everyone's talking about it, to the point where the show just might come back specifically because of the cliffhanger.

The second season of Chuck was not doing well in the ratings, and it took an enormous fan campaign to show people that the show was worth saving. If it wasn't for the awesome cliffhanger ending to that season, people may not have been as interested, and maybe the campaign wouldn't have been big enough to save the show.

I would just hate to see a show provide an ending when it doesn't need to - this just gives the network an excuse to not renew. If you throw out a hail mary pass, you might just catch it.

I know where you're coming from...A couple years ago I was an idiot and bought a roll of a hundred stamps - I think they're 41 cent. I still have about 80 of them.

Congrats - that's really cool. I've never worked on anything with a tangible result that the general public can see - always wanted to, so I could show people, "this is what I do", instead of "I sit in a cubicle and I update bank software for the 2000 switch".

I agree that using 7-Zip's ".7z" format isn't necessarily the way to go, but 7-Zip compresses to TAR or ZIP as well - and compressing/decompressing from the command line and a higher compression ratio put it a step or two ahead of Windows.

Interesting that the command line tool works differently from the GUI on RAR - that's pretty unexpected behavior - but since it's open source, it's actually realistic to expect that bug to be fixed if it gets reported.

I'll stick with good old ZIP whenever I need to share files, and 7z when I need a higher compression ratio - I really don't see what the purpose of RAR is in the first place.

All that aside - the syntax highlighter is pretty cool, and I look forward to using it. Thanks for the info - I didn't know stuff this good was out there.
