First and foremost, I'm his friend. And, I am the Treasurer of Friends of Sam Messina, a campaign support committee. I do my best to be sure we comply with NYS election law financial requirements.
Anonymous bloggers spreading misinformation and their inability to get facts right don't warrant any further responses from me. Voters always have choices and sometimes it is difficult to make those choices. But let me discuss several sets of voters who have unique things to consider since they have first hand experience with sloppy campaigning. Those who signed Working Families Party petitions for Sam's opponent should ask themselves whether it seems appropriate for a notary to witness their signatures a month before they signed the petition! The election laws are clear on the subject; those Working Families Party voters should ask themselves whether they really want to support such sloppiness and election law violations.

Sam has had excellent support from Independence Party voters; his opponent apparently has had enough support to put himself in the Independence Party primary race in September. Those voters who signed Sam's opponent's petitions are in the best position to ask themselves whether their signature was obtained properly, i.e. was an oath administered and was their signature witnessed and notarized. That is what the election law requires of all petitioners. If any voters believe their signature was not obtained while meeting those requirements, they will have a simple choice of choosing sloppiness and disregard for the law or choosing to vote for independence, integrity, honesty and Sam's leadership experience. Sam will welcome their vote!
