At first I was skeptical, I thought that they were just big iPod Touches. And guess what? They are. But I LOVE my iPad.

It's important to note that the iPad is a "Content Consumption" device, not a "Content Creation" device.

IPad Pros:
* Great for reading Tweets (Twitbird pro app)
* Great for Social networking ( it really needs a facebook app for the iPad)
* Great for reading emails off-line that are not time sensitive (iPad mail app)
* Great for reading RSS feeds (REEDER iPad app)
* it's always on, no need to boot my laptop
* is a great entertainment device while traveling (I load 10 movies, and dozens of podcasts before a trip)
* is great for doing a quick search on the internet. (the lack of flash isn't that much of an issue for me)

iPad Cons:
* Keyboard is not good for lots of typing
* no good apps for creating PowerPoint or creating fancy charts/graphs. (I do this a lot at work)
* it will not replace my laptop. I use it, in addition to my laptop. (note: I recently took a 4 day trip to Detroit, with only my iPad and no laptop. it worked well. But I did not need to create any PowerPoints or other complex graphs during this trip)

Oh yes. I do have a Dell mini 10 netbook. I used it a lot, until I got my iPad. Now it just sits in my desk drawer gathering dust. It's a nice laptop, but the iPad fits me much better.

Jerry

Re: Dell Inspiron Mini 10v – Part 3

I have a dell mini 10 (not the 10v). It's a great little machine for personal use. (web surfing, small applications). I can't imagine using it for CAD

Re: What CAD Programs Run on Linux?
