Using classes may seem intuitive to people who have never used prototypes, but this masks the true beauty of Javascript.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Douglas Crockford's "Javascript: The Good Parts" is one of the best references I can recommend.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For #9: Extending native prototypes is great in principle, but can lead to incompatibilities where you never expected them. Try dropping MooTools into a legacy project that relies heavily on plain-old javascript.
