And they care deeply about a sustainable business to pass on to their kids, as the vast majority of these "industrial" farms are still family owned and run.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It's an exciting time for "agtech", as technology is finally catching up with the needs of these farmers: helping them get out of spreadsheets and whiteboards and guesstimates, and giving them the real-time and historic data to make informed choices instead of simply planting whatever new seed their Monsanto sales rep recommends using whatever inputs that same sales rep says to buy.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This change will come quickly in the next year or two. The truly scary problem is water usage, with ridiculous choices like growing lettuce in Arizona.
