I can't really tell you what happened beyond Apple's plans changing. I can tell you that the myriad case leaks we saw for that design were not based off of my bad Photoshop mockup!

The way I see it, playing the rumors game is always a risky proposition. Sometimes you win big, and sometimes you lose. But I'd rather play the game than stand on the sidelines.

Hey all, I noticed a lot of you are complaining about the quality of the podcast this week. Let me explain what's going on.

1: We had 16 people in a room together and wanted everyone to participate in the podcast. It wasn't perfect, but for our team it was a lot of fun. Sorry if some of you didn't like it -- I promise never to force you to listen to what we do.

2: We had technical issues with both the audio and video this week, and that was due to a new setup that had not been fully tested. That's not an excuse, just a fact. We won't be doing a video podcast again until September, when a new rig we're putting together is set up.

3: Some of you seem surprised that we're joking around and not staying on topic. Perhaps you haven't heard the podcast before, but we tend to do that a lot. Most tech podcasts are incredibly dry, and we're not trying to replicate what other people do. We have a lot of fun with each other, and we try to approach this stuff (at least on the podcast) from a lighter direction. Believe me, if you listen enough you'll hear plenty of nerdy tech talk and serious conversation, but that isn't always what happens.

4: To the folks using this as an opportunity to sling personal attacks and call people names -- there are plenty of other places on the internet to read and talk about technology. Feel free to head over to those other places.

Feels like an 8. I'm still not psyched on the hardware design, but it has a lot going for it. Much smoother experience now.
