For example, I'll have what I want to accomplish. Then the date I hope to achieve said item by. I like to include a "why statement" -- nothing to lengthy. But something that reminds me why it's worth the effort when I read it. Then I try to include real, specific action items that upon completion will move me closer towards the larger goal.

This keeps me plugged into the goal and working on it (which is what gets in the way most of the time -- other things occupy our time and the next thing we know that goal we wanted to accomplish is no where to be found). It helps to reduce the dreaded "out of sight, out of mind" that can happen as life gets busy. Also, it requires me to add new action items as old items are accomplished. The idea is that it helps to keep you plugged into the goal you've set.

I write more on the process in my book, It's Your Life, LIVE BIG -- I call it "Goal Cards... You can also just search for "Goal Cards Josh Hinds" in your favorite search engine and I'm sure it'll show you some articles where I've written more indepth on the topic.

Re: When The Student is Ready, the Teacher in Every Adversity Will Appear By Josh Hinds

Glad you enjoyed the post Jeremy.

Re: How My Father’s Death Taught Me to Take Responsibility for Creating My Future

Thanks Vicky. Being intentional, or striving to be at least can make all the difference. Just trying to live by choice, or chance as I say puts one ahead of their peers just because so few even keep a to do list, much less goals. Glad you enjoyed the post and thank you for sharing your thoughts on it :-)

-Josh

Re: How to succeed through failure

Glad that you liked the post Camilla. That's a good point you make. People will often say, "it's scary to go for what I want -- what if I fail." To which I say, "But what if you don't?" :-) Sometimes it's about just realizing that "falling" or "falling short of one's desired outcome" isn't the end all. There's no rule that says you can't just keep trying and tweaking until we get the results we're after. There's also a lot of evidence that points to the idea that every step along a person's journey can move them closer to bigger, better, results, so long as they are willing to use their journey as a learning opportunity.

-Josh :-)

Re: You’re Meant to Live Full Out

Sometimes things aren't as clear. I find that clearer details tend to appear as one follows their current plan. I often say life has a way of filling in the details for the person that takes action on ideas and thoughts that come their way.

Re: 7 Habits of Highly Confident People

I'm glad you enjoyed the post, and found the ideas helpful.
