I did, though, want to point out that the best way to authenticate in a web app like this is to use a redirect-based login rather than the Lock library you're using above. We have an example in the README for the PHP SDK you're using here:

https://github.com/auth0/au...

In short, instead of showing the Lock form on your site, redirect to our hosted login page to authenticate and handle the callback with `$auth0->getUser()` as you're doing above. If you're doing Passwordless, like this example is, pass in either `email` or `sms` as the second parameter (null for the first), depending on the type you want to use. This will be more secure, easier to maintain (no mixing PHP and JS), and will avoid some of the issues you might see with third party cookies.

Happy to answer any questions on this!

Re: Writing Composer Scripts

So helpful, thank you!

Re: Auth0 Welcomes Vittorio Bertocci to the Team

Welcome @vibronet!

Re: macOS 10.12 Sierra Apache Setup: Multiple PHP Versions

Fantastic! I wish I had this a year ago when I set mine up. The burn-in tests would have been great to do and I had a tough time selecting the right hardware (several exchanges with Newegg). It's going fairly well now but a few annoyances to work out.

I'm curious how you move files to the box from your other machines. Right now I'm have a simple bash script to rsync them over with the right permissions. I think this will work fine in the long run but just curious how you're doing it.

Thanks!

Re: Welcome To The New Liberaland

Thanks William ... that graphic is a little too close to home some days :)

Re: The Apple Watch is Aimed Squarely at Women

Interesting take .... but not sure I'm totally convinced. Look at the marketing pages:

http://www.apple.com/watch/

First big photo: gender-neutral. The next bank, to me, is 2 male-oriented, 2 female-oriented, and 2 neutral. The Apple Watch page:

http://www.apple.com/watch/...

Pretty gender-neutral all the way down. The first big picture is a guy I wouldn't mind looking like, the rest are just nice close-ups. The Watch Sport page:

http://www.apple.com/watch/...

... I see appeals to both genders there, with the main photo being a totally irrelevant one of a couple making out. Sex appeal but for both teams. The Edition page:

http://www.apple.com/watch/...

... that's the one that feels like it's speaking to women. First big photo says it all: classy, well-dressed, the watch is very much a fashion accessory. 2nd big photo is a very nice watch but the colors would look best on a woman. Next one, white and rose gold, very feminine. 3rd photo with a butterfly on the face ... that's obvious. The last one... I could see that on a man in a nice navy suit but I could see it on a woman as well.

Re: Live Template Variables

Is there any way to turn off the suggestion drop-down when filling out a live template? When I start in, say, the name of a function, it suggests other functions and when I hit <tab> to move to the next variable in the template, it accepts the suggestion instead of what I've typed.

Re: Easy Node Authentication: Setup and Local

Hey there ... thanks so much for the tutorial, everything works as it should after making a few changes to use Handlebars instead of EJS and upgrading the middleware code for Express 4.

I did have a question ... if I try to login with one or both fields empty, I'm kicked back to the login page (as expected) but no error message. If I try a console.log in the local-login strategy, it never reaches that block unless it has both fields present. That means I can't do a "Please fill out both fields" error. In app.post for /login, I wrapped passport.authenticate with a function so I could do a little extra logic but I'm not sure how to replicate the failureRedirect along with a flash message.

Any idea how I can accomplish this? Thank you!

Re: The Ultimate Cheat Sheet For Investing All of Your Money

Great advice and it came just at the right moment for me. As soon as I think I have too much on my plate and having a kid makes it harder, I realize that it's the workload I create for myself that's the problem, not the kid. I've accomplished an enormous amount in the last year and I am feeling the burnout but one sunny day out and about with my little girl and I'm recharged. It forces me to take the downtime I need.

You said "it's all about logistics" and that couldn't be more true. The time I have available to work is less so the time I spend focusing on what needs to get done is much more productive. If I know that I have 4 hours to get something done before I have to pick her up, it makes me much better at making those hours productive, as opposed to having 4 hours of work and an 8 hour window.

Re: So You Want to be a Freelancer

Good post for those getting started. I just recently moved out of freelancing after about 4 years and miss a few things but not everything.

The one thing I wanted to comment about was the Hourly Rate Syndrome. For me, this was one of the best things I learned from being self employed. If you say "my time is worth $XXX per hour" and then approach almost everything with that in mind, you'll find yourself making decisions differently.

For me, this was a good thing. Do I want to wash and wax my car? It would take me about 2 hours to do that. Or, I could pay someone to detail it for $80. Spend the time that they're detailing putting in an hour of freelancing time, problem solved. You find yourself much more likely to pay someone to do a certain task so your time is more free. Whether you do that hour of work to make up for it is irrelevant; you decided to save you time for what you want to do with it instead of what has to be done.

This works as long as you have things that are more important that money. Bath time with our new daughter is a no-brainer; you couldn't pay me to miss that, whatever the price!

Re: Pro tips and tricks for the power user

Hahaha that's exactly what I thought when I moved to HipChat ... couldn't believe there was even a single thing I missed but there was: this.

Re: Josh Cunningham & Jake Goldman

This was a totally out-of-the-blue connection that led to a very important and exciting person change. I'm sure that Old Spice didn't just throw a bunch of money at Weiden + Kennedy and cross their fingers, they watched very closely what happened.

Interesting break-down of Groupon, by the way. I didn't follow how they got to where they are and it's fascinating to see how those techniques can be used to their maximum potential.

Re: 84-Year-Old Woman Becomes the Pepper-Sprayed Face of Occupy Seattle - National - The Atlantic Wire

Truly awful.
