I remember the Fathom Events screening of Poltergeist at my local Regal theater being absolutely terrible. It was a DVD, and whatever projector they were using wasn't evenly positioned for the screen. It was as if they'd lost their pro equipment and had to make due with whatever they could get at Best Buy that afternoon.

That "camera going anywhere just because" aspect of Zemeckis's filmmaking is a symptom of his overreliance on tech over substance that started with Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It's not like it's been 100% crap since then, but that's where it really began. Flight was not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it gives me hope that maybe he can still make movies that more about storytelling than visual tricks.
