With regard to the part about “don’t let your work life be your only life”, I feel as though that in itself is highly overlooked a lot and yet equally a very vital piece that we should all embrace more. Photography for me has without question been a license to meet people and visit places that I probably would have never been adventurous enough to uncover otherwise. Photography I often feel keeps me sane, it’s what fulfills me and it certainly sparks my curiosity for the world. I reminds me of this other article I read that states that “no one is going to make us do the things we love” unless we set aside the personal time for it.

As for treating people for coffee…this has been something I’ve done in the past, and it’s certainly worked but nowadays with more and more people being very busy and pressed for time, I can’t really bring myself to invite people for coffee as much to “pick their brain” so to speak, unless I feel as though I’m offering some additional value in return aside from coffee. I’m always afraid of people assuming that I just value their knowledge with the price of coffee but in reality it’s a lot more than that.

Overall great, piece, and great advise!

Re: melting noise's Tumblelog

Glad you enjoy the photo too. It's always polite to include the reference to the photo, meaning who you reblogged it from.

Re: http://jackcheng.com/i-am-my-own-boss-and-so-can-you

This year alone I've read about a slew of designers venturing out on their own and giving it a shot at establishing their own business and they've been pretty successful at it. Congrats on your decision and best of luck.

Re: Ziked! - Facebook Spam Is Here

That minor delay won't stop me from installing this awesome feature. Much better than google search implementation to Tumblr. Thanks!

Re: the loudest noise comes from the electric david

The new WP does look great and I appreciate the new features it offers. I'm good with Tumblr as of now but I have installed WP locally on my Mac and I tinker with it that way.

Re: gfxcorps // dannyhasablog

Don't be so hard on yourself. The theme looks great and I personally enjoy the simplistic approach.
