Yes, I agree. I'm a technologist, but not just for the sake of it. Emerging economies are the most ripe to put some of these, like blockchain, to use because they don't have the legacy infrastructure to deal with.

Exactly!

I asked a highly empathetic friend of mine if he uses techniques to "care about others"; of course he said no. Same goes it problem solving. You have to care about the problem (empathy) and have the awareness that the road to figuring out a solution is not going to be a straight line (experimentation). And in that road we certainly use tools, but it's not a given that with them we'll be successful.

No doubt about it. In terms of control and taking human nature into account, what happened in the past a good way to know what might happen in the future. The big difference is that today most everyone is connected!

Very true! We're going back in time.

I too believe we'll see people feel the pressure from algorithms and robots and will resort to some extreme and unhealthy tactics like not sleeping. Of course it doesn't have to be that way but you know how power corrupts.

How might we change the narrative? Are we too late?

Very good. As I understand it, teach people how to be less stupid via decision making models before teaching them how to use and interpret analytics so they don't fully trust that the tool will do all of the work for them.

Cool! True, I find "framing bias" around too, and it's unfortunate because it's very hard to differentiate between good intentions and fact checking.

What is your take on "teaching people" (everyone) to understand / interpret analytics? Is that something that is still siloed to a special few or is it something that can an enterprise wide activity?
