I will never tire of your Paul Simon song dissections, nor Paul Simon, really. I wonder what he must think of all his fans - do they even listen to what he's saying? As you say, it's heavy stuff, but do they just hear the beat and skip over the subject matter? I don't know how he doesn't spend all his days thinking how people just don't get it. As for me I thought until just now he was singing "babbling heart" so there you go.

i'm too tired to figure out how to log into this thing but I just wanted to say thanks for posting this, I guess? This is my dad's name, minus the T, and he died on 9/14/02 at 57 from cancer, just like Swayze. Everything gets all jumbled up in my head during weeks like this... Anyway this quotation is something i will think about now, a lot. So thanks for posting it today.

Wow, this is crazy. But really what I think this article is missing is that if you still feel not-so-good about yourself even after following the "aim low" advice here you should just go over to youtube and read some of the comments below your favorite videos. There's really no better remedy for self pity than the joy gleaned from the self-exploitation of the others' stupidity!

At least for a temporary fix anyway. :)

I wish I could but puppy raising policy precludes Terence's inclusion :( BUT I know my two traveling partners because of Guide Dogs, one is visually impaired and will be bringing her black lab guide dog on the trip, the other is a puppy raiser who is also leaving his pup in California, so we'll still be bringing some tail wags with us. Terence says he's available for meet & greets within the 8 western puppy raising states throughout which he is able to travel freely without pissing off the Guide Dogs Gods. :)

Haha, I like her style and I'm a big proponent of this when used in the right context. We take a lot of payments over the phone and end up giving out confirmation numbers a lot and "A as in alpha" gets boring after the 50th time or so. Last week one of my coworkers was giving out a confirmation number (they're in the format 12345C) and she said it over the phone as "1-2-3-4-5-Cow and I got really excited. WAY TO BREAK THE MOLD I told her and she responded with, "oh yeah well I used to say "C as in Cat" but not everyone spells Cat with a C.

I didn't really know what to say to that.

re #7... I work with a fraternities, I've met some of the most amazing guys because of it, guys I hadn't pegged as the fraternity type. Now I get pissed when people say "frat." Enjoy your time and absolutely go to any big national events they have (RLCs, conventions, etc). I had a ton of fun at the ones I've gone to and I'm a girl, haha.

But yeah, there are douchebags out there but you don't seem like one of them so you should be ok. :)
