I just want to make clear that I did not endorse John Gregg. While I support his run and have donated to his campaign, I also support the run of Glenda Ritz and plan to donate to her campaign. I am very unfamiliar with Karen Tallian, and I'm glad she's decided to throw her hat in the ring as well.

I do wish the three Democrats could somehow find a way to come together instead of being fractured, but I'm not sure that can happen. At this point, I don't know who I'd vote for at the Primary level.

Bil, thanks for mentioning me in this piece and for the link to the blog. I appreciate it.

Perhaps this is why a Muslim Congressman might go to the convention? I get what you're trying to do here, Tony. Truth is that politicians attend conventions all the time and those conventions sometimes attract unsavory individuals...just like special interest conventions, conservative conventions or other religious-based conventions might draw unsavory folks.

Got the numbers a bit wrong here. 87 percent were in the top two categories. 3 percent were in the bottom, and 10 percent were not evaluated for some reason.

Feel like I'm stepping in between two friends here, but I have to agree with Abdul on this one. The statute seems pretty clear when it says "until a successor is appointed and qualified."

It would seriously undercut the Mayor and Straub politically if he's allowed to serve without the stamp of approval from the Council. Every day, I would remind people that the Mayor was going against the will of the Council. I guarantee the FOP would have something to say about it, as well.

I don't think it will continue to be wine and roses for Straub if he's not reapproved by the Council, but I don't think he legally has to box up his things and move out, either.

The loophole needs to be closed by the legislature.

Yes, they could be redrawn any time after the election, there was no hurry. Bob Cockrum admitted that the maps were drawn and the proposal has been made specifically to redistrict while Republicans hold the Mayor's Office as well as the Council.

Brian Vargus shot the poll down. Listen, I think there's merit in it. I think there is a lot of undecided voters out there, but I think the poll is shaky because it would not release its entire methodology.

We'll see what the real votes are on Nov. 8.

The Coroner was an elected and not appointed official. Ballard (would not have) nor Peterson had control over that move. That came from the voters.

I was responding directly to the blog post and the part where Abdul said that this was a Kennedy ad. It's not. It's a Marion County Democratic Party attack. If you want to do the math, you can, but the fact is that the ad was paid for by the MCDP. Again, not spin. Fact.

On Christine Scales, she seems to be a very nice. She has sent me kind feedback on my blog posts mentioning her.

As far as Gary's post on Advance Indiana, I find it laughable. He has been on Kostas from the start, so he has no credibility. On the merits, it's clear that the postcard is not written by Christine Scales. Anyone that believes it actually was needs to have their vision and sanity checked.

Abdul, you're living in a world where you assume everyone knows when and where the City-County Council meets. The Council does a poor job of advertising its agenda and its meeting time/place. Plus, Joe Schmoe was at home watching the Colts.

You're right, though. It's lamentable more people don't care about the budget like my friend, community activist Pat Andrews, does. Pat's amazing when it comes to things like looking deep into the budget and helping others make sense of it.

If you can find a way to make people care about their government, let me know.

As far as the Georgia Street deal vs. the budget debate goes, I think you're doing one of your confusing the issues things again, Abdul. You're good at that.

Why is it wrong to try to get your strongest support group to the polls on election day? I don't have a problem with anything Zach has done in his campaign for Council. It's been almost perfect.

Let's not forget, the Star did the article. Zach didn't, to my knowledge, ask for it. What was he supposed to do? Decline the front page coverage? I think the point of the story was that it's not a big deal that Zach is gay and running for Council, and it isn't. But, taking him to task for trying to get support from the LGBT community for his run is like taking Ballard to task for trying to get support from...well...who does support him these days?

Anyway, I think your criticism falls flat. And, by the way, it's spelled "Woodmansee".

No, Abdul, you don't get it because you keep on confusing the issue. I asked you to provide one compelling reason to change the name and all you could do was shift the playing field to other topics.

There's no reason to rename Georgia Street, and, in fact, the name could be played up. One commenter on my blog suggested maybe putting up a statue of Hoosier songwriter Hoagy Carmichael, who penned Georgia on My Mind.

For the record, Kennedy isn't complaining. She has just said the name shouldn't be changed. That's it.

Mansfield is standing up for 190 years of Indianapolis history.

Let's be honest, if Bart Peterson wanted to name this "Hospitality Boulevard" or "Champions Way" you'd be leading the protests.

Come on. You know that the only reason that Indianapolis got the Super Bowl was because Indy re-submitted the same package that Peterson put together. Indy didn't get the Super Bowl because Dallas could promise 40,000 more seats! That's the truth. With Dallas out of the equation, Indy was the only choice.

And, furthermore, Melina was gone from the office when the Super Bowl bid was done.

I didn't ask for comments because I pretty much knew where they would go, and there's no sense in piling on.

If it makes me a coward for protecting Barbara, J.J., and Tony from any more of the nastiness I see going on online, then so be it. I guess I am a coward. Thanks for pointing that out.
