Big Win.

Re: IBM Systems Magazine - The Completely Different World of Python With IBM i | IBM i | IBM Systems Magazine

Python is an incredibly productive language. IBM has some great stuff (DB2 and friends), and some not-so-great. Lotus Notes is definitely in the not-so-great (read: many people outright HATE it), but FWIW, it's not something they designed. Like Cognos, Tivoli, Informix, and much of the rest of the portfolio, their R&D was M&A.

Re: The post-Tumblr options

Concur. But it's a longshot even so. A social feedback loop is a complex beast, and not one really transportable from one site to another. Sure, you can feature-match. Mostly. But most Tumblr blogs can't get the Tumblr readers to move over. So a move from Tumblr is, for many, an move from a popular, happening neighborhood into a dusty, barren desert.

Re: http://sugar-hips-ramblings.tumblr.com/post/3124646673

Concur. As long as folks aren't pudknockers about it, it's all good.

But rapid-fire follow-unfollow sequences--ESPECIALLY when done repeatedly--are annoying. My father has it at an industrial garage complex he owns in Florida. He's wanted to turn it into a camper, but never got around to it. He was enthusiastic, but that petered out, and he's moved on to other things. The engine and body are in good shape. It "just" needs to be outfitted inside (which is basically hollow at this point). If I wanted to inherit that, I'm sure I could. I could even probably acquire it earlier, if there was a place for it to go and a reason for it to go there.

Re: http://vmarinelli.tumblr.com/post/571491333

I don't know your time frame for realizing this fantasy, but within a few years, I'm likely to inherit a old diesel school bus that make a great traveling bookmobile.
