She and her parents ruled out Stanford immediately because they barely provided any financial aid (and it was also far away from the East Coast). MIT and Princeton provided her a decent financial aid package. She wound up choosing Princeton (which I am glad she did, since her enginerd father was pushing MIT, which was too close to home also).

I think Stanford has changed its financial aid policies since then, but that has always bothered me that such a rich school like Stanford used to have such poor financial aid that my cousin and Aunt & Uncle dismissed the school almost immediately.

Re: Silicon Valley needs a symbol, akin to the Seattle Space Needle or the St. Louis Arch

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

Re: Snark over Paul Ryan Intern Selfie Doesn’t Prove What You Think it Proves

I could understand that if these were just interns from Wisconsin, but these are Republican interns representing their respective districts all over the country. Thanks! Most people I know who study Mandarin in Taiwan have gone to Taiwan Normal University's language study program. Just curious why you chose that particular program that you had attended. Also, why did other students decide to study in Taiwan (as opposed to China?) Seemed like you had a personal connection through your mother having been born there. I'm assuming because the students wanted to learn traditional Chinese character? (That's the reason I most often hear).

Re: Awkward tech bloggers & Google Glass mocked on SNL (video)

Reminds me of the days when Doonebury mocked the Apple Newton...

Re: Don't Hate Stanford Because It's Rich

Cornell tech powerhouses: Qualcomm, Peoplesoft & Workday, Palm in its day, to name a few.

Re: China Mobile Starting to Need an iPhone Deal

Qualcomm's MDM9615 (which Apple uses) does support TD-SCDMA according to Qualcomm's press release & product page: http://www.qualcomm.com/med... and http://www.qualcomm.com/chi...
