Thankfully there is another update. I have found the Essential Camera app to be kind of buggy in the past and has "frozen" and where I've had to do even a reboot of my phone. Hopefully this update eliminates the freezes/crashes and generally lagging performance.

I think you've mistakenly attributed this study to Cornell University when actually, the paper is hosted on a Cornell University affiliated site. If you click on the actual paper, the authors are affiliated with other institutions.

Yeah, Stanford has definitely benefited reputation wise and financially from the halo effect of Silicon Valley, so much so that Stanford has the lowest acceptance rate in the nation! ( http://www.businessinsider.... )

Kind of reminds me of Duke's rise in reputation with the rise of the men's basketball team ...

But Cornell will always be #1 to me :)

This was back in 1999, but my cousin had gotten into Stanford, MIT and Princeton. She and her parents ruled out Stanford immediately because they barely provided any financial aid (and it was also far away from the East Coast). MIT and Princeton provided her a decent financial aid package. She wound up choosing Princeton (which I am glad she did, since her enginerd father was pushing MIT, which was too close to home also).

I think Stanford has changed its financial aid policies since then, but that has always bothered me that such a rich school like Stanford used to have such poor financial aid that my cousin and Aunt & Uncle dismissed the school almost immediately.

Interesting. Thanks! Most people I know who study Mandarin in Taiwan have gone to Taiwan Normal University's language study program. Just curious why you chose that particular program that you had attended. Also, why did other students decide to study in Taiwan (as opposed to China?) Seemed like you had a personal connection through your mother having been born there. I'm assuming because the students wanted to learn traditional Chinese character? (That's the reason I most often hear).
