This is not a deal.

Re: Experimentation Vs Mindless Practice (L#199)

It's so weird to be watching Scott's video, and hear my name. I loved the remarkably fast builds and the built-in stuff that you mentioned. The thing that finally made me leave it was the lack of generics. I understand their decision to leave them out, since they were targeting systems programming, and not necessarily general-purpose programming; but I needed general purpose, and not having generics makes that frustrating.

Re: The Proper Pronunciation of Clojure's Assoc - Squid's Blog

I'm American, yet I pronounce it as "ASS-ok".

Re: Simple Timer Abstraction in Scala

Once you've worked in a language with first-class functions, it's hard to go back to one that does not. After reading this post, just for fun, I knocked up a Clojure macro that does the same thing. It has the extra added niftyness that it can accept a single expression, or multiple ones. You can see it, colorized, with two examples at https://gist.github.com/joe...

Re: http://epcotexplorer.tumblr.com/post/23524885562

I would love a hi-res version of that. Just like the "Fair Tax," the proponents say that this is only for federal matters, but that local sales taxes probably/might go away, too. To which I say, "yeah, right."

Re: Boxer or Briefs? It works beautifully for me. The only comments that I actually delete are the ones that are clearly spam, but somehow Akismet missed them, or that are just vulgar screeds, or have nothing to do with the post. I haven't had any backlash, but of course my traffic is not that great... :-(

Re: “Learnings” is not a word!!!!

What I really hate is how "gifting" is becoming popular instead of "giving." I have Parallels 3.0 (specifically build 4560) with a Kubuntu image, and I don't have to click to activate, or press Ctrl-Enter to get back to OSX. It works just like the Windows integration does. It may not support shared folders, but since it's a networked device, you can use ssh or SMB.
