That valet cubby concept has been in both the Virgin Atlantic Revivals Lounge and the BA Arrivals lounge on Heathrow for years.

If you get a 787-9 or one of the refitted A330s it's good. Our 789 out to LHR got switched to an old, tired A330 and I woke up sweating because of the lack of airflow in the cabin and how warm they kept it. Didn't sleep on the way home just because, but the 789 we were on back to JFK was way nicer, mostly because it was new.

Huh. I'm none of these. There have to be more types of people. Also what about that older lady in first class who fell asleep with a cup of coffee in her hand and spilled it on my blazer, then gave me $40 cash for "dry cleaning"? That was a weird upgrade experience.

I flew biz class OPO > AMS > NCL a few months ago and had great food. But ... much shorter haul. But it was some of the best airline food I've had. Really surprising to me how bad this was.

Flew round-trip JFK to LHR in Premium Economy last September and found the seats to be really uncomfortable. arm rests were too tall and the because the tray table is in the armrest, the stupid flap kept flipping up. The seat cushion was also really hard... Our nighttime flight out was the worst with no sleep to be had. That's why I'm upgrading to Upper Class for our trip in June... we'll see if it helps at all.

One thing that's been bugging me though all of this coverage is the lack of communication theory being employed. The first time I watched the video I kind of felt bad for Mr. Falwell. As soon as the word "muslims" comes out of his mouth you can tell he's thinking, "Oh crap. What did I just do?" His non-verbal should be fairly apparent to anyone who has taken any sort of intro to communication course. But, of course, he owns it... at least until the next day when he says he meant "terrorists."

What's scary is that that misspoken word kind of shows what's underneath the front-facing rhetoric, doesn't it? There's a responsibility of those with wide-reaching platforms to be careful of what they say. In current media climate, and from someone who is already viewed as inflammatory beyond the walls of the Southern Baptist Convention, those words do so much more damage than they might from someone else. It feels, at times, that this isn't just the death of the Church in America, but a suicide and best, friendly-fire at worst. My heart's heavy this season.

I'm an alum of The New School and 4 months later I still can't open their solicitation emails. The logo is still so jarring and repulsive to me as a designer. Definitely doesn't make me want to give money to my school.

This. Also, the non-existence of a visual hierarchy, not vertical rhythm and bright images that look like ads. Everything about this page should have been included in the 8 tips. I couldn't even find the first tip until I'd scrolled past it.

But that's a completely different scenario from what happened and what the point of this post is.

This isn't about a traveler failing to have other payment options, it's about a mega-corporation draining someone's bank account. That's the problem. It's US Airways' fault for charging the LW *way* more than the contract that was made between her and US Airways upon purchase of tickets and purchase of baggage space stipulated.

I agree it makes sense, but because that is what you or I would do to try and prevent a risk like this doesn't shift any blame on the LW for using a different mode of payment.

That's my point. Regardless of whether she used a prepaid card, credit card, debit card, PayPal, or whatever, it's still US Airway's fault for letting a massive charge like that go through and not having the systems in place to catch it beforehand.

It's ridiculous for commenters here to pass this off as Shahid's fault for "not using a credit card". No matter what form of payment is being used, it was US Airway's fault for making those charges. It's not any better if they had done the same through the credit card company. Had she been carrying just a credit card it's likely those charges would have maxed that card out and left her in the same position.

US Airways contracts with the software company that handles their payment processing. They are providing a service to the customer. If something goes wrong in the the process of dealing with a customer's money, it's US Airways' fault.

If US Airways were a class act they would refund her money plus interest, refund her flight, and give her a free flight as an added gesture. If they did that or similar, they might have kept a customer. It also would have gone a long way with travelers like us who see US Airways as a terrible carrier.

I ate at Franklin BBQ about an hour before POTUS showed up, got there after 8am, was receiving smoked meats by 11:15am. Depends on the day and time you get there. I've never waited longer than 3 hours at Franklin. A 6 hour wait might happen when tourists are in town for SXSW or something, but that's not a normal day.

This is inaccurate. Franklin is open 11AM till they're sold out. They make as much food as their cookers can handle and up until the new smokehouse opened this past Tuesday they cooked 24 hours a day and were *at capacity*. You wait in line because it is quite possibly the best brisket you'll ever have in your life. And you get there early to wait because you understand that the wait is worth it.

Aaron Franklin is one of the nicest guys I've ever met and they cook nearly 8,000 lbs of meat every week. If you can't get in line early enough or muster the patience to wait it out, that's not Franklin's fault. People line up because it really is that good.
