The Mint said it left because state taxes are too high, Boeing is saying the same - is Pete responsible for global earming too? What vile accusation is coming next??, Business taxes so high? Are you nuts - we don't have a city B& O tax Shelley has got to be one of the few businesses in town that doesn't know that! It's not mayor Pete and you and Virginia don't even know that.
Pound on Lewis because of the ballet? Any one in the Chamber knows Cavannaugh gave the ballet a rent break for years and when he needed them out of the building they sued him. What twisted logic!

You hear people upset - nonsense, I've been here a lot less time but I know most people are finally able to see auburn in a positive light. People are happier and safer and you have got to be the most negative person I have ever seen.

Then there's that flat out lie and lie it is that crime isn't being reported. Duh. Get a clue shelley. They give it to The Reporter. They put a next to live report on the web without censure for every one to see so we can help each other and you blast the mahyor for that as well, the guy that hired more cops than we've had in twenty years shame on you. Like Shelley said will citizens please call the Auburn Reporter Robert Whale and ask what he thinks of this nonsense. He's far more likely to tell the truth.

Well, I'm sure not able to answer all of it but someone has got to get her to stop all this half truth, mostly lie nonsense.

The mayor has not signed the ordnance 6049?
The City Council approved an ordinance, mayor signed and was in paper, doesn't give anything like power to condemn for whatever and you know the chamber already said this was nonsense so who's got a wierd conspiracy that the evil empire wants to take the land?

All the nonsense about the Auburn Justice Center. Massey was a hero of this community. Jay Thorpe truely cared and tried to help with the Fun Center. The people who bought it from him trashed it and many of us remember it only as a dark, dripping moldy mess. No conspiracy here either we all saw it transformed into something better.

Bruce of the Sunbreak and the Chamber both said he'd paid market rate at the time and date sold his big parking lot to the city.

The Auburn Theatre lease was done by the Auburn City Council to provide more downtown activity at a time when it was really necessary to bring people here. God, we need every person we can get. The city wanted to keep live theater here but wanted to make sure it goes back to the private sector when the redevelopment is done. Your buddy running for mayor even took part in the meetings about how it would be used.

Pike Street?Now this one I heard about at a hardware store this week. A guy owned it and wouldn't fix it and it got to be a health hazard complained about by the community for ten years. The city kept fining the guy to fix it and finally took it and they just sold it. Guy nearby said they just took off the nasty old roof last weekend and the neighborhood was celebrating in the street.

How about the nutsy comments about the fire department? They' consolidated stations, hired more fire fighters, getting new equipment, building new stations.We have great fire fighters and medics. City isn't collecting any money for fire service that is the fire authority easy enough to check on the website if you just look.
Longer response time - bull, they have the best times around and it is irresponsible and a bit creepy to make up something like that and most of the rest of it. Check their website or look it up.

As far a grants it is about time some one in this city finally got their act together and went out and got some of that money back from the federal government that we have been paying out since income tax was invented. How stupid is it not to do what is finally being done. This is about making a negative out of every thing.

The red light thing you should have actually read. How about this one - what other city council dedicated all net proceeds of it to traffic calming devices for the neighborhood amnd showed cjamber all they are doing. Geez, you got a Council trying to do something good and look what you do.

Heard about one of the leaders of your partners group being asked to leave the Farmers Market group. Chamber, downtown business, all of us think the Farmers Market has been great and wow it is all about you guys. Is that what this is all about or is it really just your ongoing screaming fit against the city based on the nonsense below? OK folks that's truth, go check it and remember the people in the past that would repeat lie after lie to try and make it true.

A leaser of a building does not gain value of a property for being a leaser. I leased the building that was torn down for Wallgreen’s for fifteen years. Probably paid the building off for the landlord. I had no legal claim to value in the building
My 23,700 square foot building permit DID surface inside city hall?
The city didn’t hold up my concrete tilt up building permit deemed acomplete submittal in March 04, 2003? Never to resurface to today’s date? Not the Civil, FAC and SEPA. All four different permits.

Even if you didn't love mayor Lewis I can not even imagine how bad it could get under someone as unqualified as Haugen especially with a recession, a possible flood and all the other day to day problems of a city. Look at the article in the paper on the Chamber forum. The paper verified she didn't get one single fact right. Change sure get her off Council.

OK this is getting into abuse of the net. Shelley you know from chanber Douglas family has gone through hell, their less than a year old baby girl with multiple cancers and you play this nonsense?
You know the Council, even your partner was in on the meetings and planning so many saw her there.

Then that didn't really work so you attack the mayor's wife because the Arts Commission has a pictures of Auburn thing? How mean will you get? Does it really matter to you who you hurt?

The city puts a crime reporting tool on the web so all could see, announce it to everyone that it is close to real time information and for you that is hidding it? Are you a joke you're so spiteful.

We finally get the black and white police patrol cars back on the street after so many wanted it don't you and your partner in what is looking more and more like the real crime to our community have anything to do besides spew this hatefilled column of lies, no truths and villany. This is disgusting.

These lase two comments are really strange. Apprarently there's something wrong with getting a large number of contributors. As was suggested I got on the net and went to the public disclosure site at pdc.wa.gov and mayor Lewis listed every dime collected while shelley's buddy is hiding behind a less than five thousand dollars collected loophole. Might be legal but seems to suggest which is for open disclosure and who is not. Really liked the part about shelley and her candidate saying unions not really to be trusted, that ought to go far.

Wow here we go again. First Virginia says she's not with her friend Shelley of the ongoing conspiracy theories then her folks say she is. Then they say there's a list of people with problems awhile back but then no one comes up with anyone. Then the Shelley and Virginia team say there's two sets of books opps now it's corruption but oh shhh can't say more. Was anyone at the council meeting or watch on tv when the city got the award from the state for 5 perfect audits.
THEN the Virginia and Shelley show say oh a debate might not be fair because of the mayor knows all of the daily business and all we hear from Virginia is about the daily business and then it hit me where has Virginia been for the last two years that she does't know the daily business? God, this is getting to be a farce.

Well Shelley's off on that no truth but keep saying it kick. Chamber and the newspaper checked on the salary thing. Councils can't give themselves raises, any change goes to the next councilmember that gets elected so that comment is just baloney again. Both mayor and council gave back raises this year, oh yah, the whole thing got put off when her buddy publically stated a specific percent to give back while knowing councilmembers and mayor were already negotiating with the unions and blowing the first deal.Oh yah chamber and citizens were there to hear it.
There's a reason for the difference between President's two terms and local states and cities decisions and ability to decide for themselves. It was set up in the constitution like that

This is starting to sound like something out of a conspiracy magazine. City secretly using fire authority funds it has not access to per the fire authority? Mayor and council taking raises wow you have to read this paper. The raises they got automatically they gave back this year. It is the mayor, well it is the mayor and the council, oh but not all the council, not the only one you like.

If the economy stays down then sales tax and property tax to the cities goes down. Every city's general fund is taxpayer money plus sales tax. Those pay the salaries.
Do you think the economy is going up soon? Really?
Are you going to increase income? Sales Tax? Property tax?
If you are not then which employees are you laying off first?
No snow about cutting 'other' it's people.

I think it's time to ask for the end of the treat comments withanyone who doesn't agree with Shelley and Shelley's candidate by Shelley. Does the candidate want to comment or not? We've seen Mayor Pete respond in every way but what about Shelley's candidate? I really feel like a lot of negative stuff has been said by one person who really hates about everything including the mayor but what about her hidden partner who won't talk. Trying to scare or put down anyone with a different opinion has already convinced me why she got the votes she did but what about her candidate? Would every one responding ask what about it.

I did what Shelley said and looked at the blogs by each candidate. I saw the mayor's full of pictures full of people, articles by others showing lots of positive statements and deeds as well.
I looked at the one for Shelley's candidate, the unknown candidate hiding behind a cloud of half truth, no truth and a lot of mean statements.I went to that blog trying to give it a chance. I have to say it was hard after reading through the black cloud of Shelley and the unknown candidate.
Then I went to both of their web sites petelewis.org and virginiahaugen.com and compared both of them. this is the difference between it's all about one and its all about everyone.

The mayor seems to have shown years of openess to every one who wants to talk or listen. Shelley's person as shown in all the emails seems to want to retreat back to a time I hated when the good old boys did run things from the back of a pool hall and no one got out of line, ever.

Didn't get the thing about hurricane Lewis but the employees who talked to folks said directors and mayor bought them lunch because they wanted to and they seemed happy about it not downers.

This bit about the mayor sneaking in under and others not seems bull to me as they've always played square with small business. We have always called in when some big dude blocked the way or put a sign out too far but hey, if all you are going to so is sit and complain, that's probably what you are going to get. For me this city is moving forward and I am glad someone is finally doing something instead of sitting on their rears and complaining
If business was taken care of and fines paid, we could all have joined into the lunch that you and the boys kicked in for That was not the point, the point being, why some businesses get to sneak under the radar with the sanction of the Mayor and his buddies while others pay those taxes, business license fees, parking fees. and do what the law says to keep in business. Some of us do not clutter the streets or abuse the rights of citizens in wheel chairs, pushing baby strollers, using canes, or a child riding a bicycle that have the right to walk on a sidewalk without running into 4 foot long flower pots, or signs clear across the side walk. Take a drive some day and check it out. YOU would be amazed if your rose colored glasses would allow you to see that far. My City taxes are supposed to pay for a City person to keep the ordinances that are on the books, checked. Instead only those things too are over looked. Ever try walking past the tattoo place on East Main while the 300 pound or more guys are sitting on a 3 foot sidewalk outside smoking? Sitting on YOUR sidewalk, obstructing traffic, breaking the law while smoking 2 feet from the public door? While walking past the Masonic Hall on a Sunday morning one has to go into the street to get past the “poodle palace” because of their signs and that is the main street of town. Ever notice the banners and flags in the Multi Care Parking lot to announce the Mexican store being there, tattered, torn, and just all around disgusting? Great entrance to YOUR city.
Free food, free drinks, and I would be there too. By the way, that is part of the job not something that Pete does because he wants to. I am at almost all of those same open houses you speak of, pick me for Mayor? Years of needing a Farmers Market and this City picks Sunday? Do those of us that live in Seattle drive down to participate or just let those vendors think not enough people care for all of their toiling?
This is not a Pete Bashing. This is simply a note to say it is time to clean house. The pool halls for the meetings you claim Cuth are still going but just different clubs. It is time that the top of the line is working towards making everyone step in unison. Saying yes to some, no to others and picking and choosing who gets to be naughty without the paddle is just not fair. I could care less who is Mayor but I would be more concerned if I were you that the laws are followed and watched carefully.

The paper mentioned the circus is coming to town. Get a clue Joey Boy and realize the Circus has been here for years, take off that red nose of YOURS, take a walk and see what I walk around seeing daily and let the others help you take the tent down from our bare downtown core and do things to attract real business. This could be a great city.

Lewis came in against the Good Old Boys and Gals who held their meetings in the back of poolhalls, Like Shelley and her partner want to do.So you honestly think this is sleepy place of trailer parks and obscene things and the mayor trys to change the image and you don't like that either?
Cavannaugh made a mistake? At least they tried and check out the web site, they endorsed Pete.

You already saw the city council wanted to keep an historic building called the theater and bring people downtown when the merchants most needed it. Both of you had the facts that this eminent domain stuff just isn't true but you keep at it. You say the paper lied, Whale the reporter lied but the tape recorder will tell the truth. You and Virgnia say the Masseys, Jay Thorpe and the rest are some kind of crooks. How mean are you and Virginia going to get? Jay Thorpe bought the Massey's building from Massey on a contract. He ran the Fun Center and our kids all loved it. He had to sell and sold it to a person who ran the center into the ground. It lay empty, dark and leaking when the developer bought it. Many of us admired Thorpe and still do. The builder bought the building first and then went to the Council to see if they wanted it for a police station. These are people with guts and care for our town. When are you and Virginia going to work for something instead of just against? As for that eminent domain nonsense, keep spouting ,anyone who's looked knows that comment for what its worth. Both you and Virginia stood up in front of a 100 people and agreed to go back 45 years ago, stop all development and do city business in back of a poolhall.

Ok so you can be an opponent or a puppet those seem to be your only choices. That is your choice but doesn't seem to be very popular. So the mayor and council did go through those cost saving measures which we know because anyone who has walked in city hall doors in last few monhs heard then and the fact that the council agreed with all that were legal. This idea of mayor and council cutting costs and staff is a bad thing when small businesses all over the US and for sure in Auburn had to is nuts. All of us in business have to make hard choices. Don't have the guts yourself. These guys are showing us responsible government and you are blowing them off - no wonder no one wants to run for office anymore. I have to go with responsible government and not what looks like a laid off employee or could it be a councilmember running for
