That helps me to continue to probe rather than to accept superficial first responses.

Re: 5 Essential Steps To Turn 360 Degree Feedback Into Action

I think the 5 Whys are so important, and so underused - especially with time pressed line managers. Thanks for a helpful article.

Re: Branding and Recruiting Fall in Love

I presented to some HRDs a few weeks ago from organisations where their marketing dept hasn't really got on board with social media yet and they were even more behind the curve in thinking about their employer brand. Or at least the manifestation of that now that online is so important. As HR professionals we have always known that our 'name' in the recruitment marketplace is really important but that used to be a much narrower, more easily manageable place! Thank you for a really useful article Maren.

Re: 21 Social Media for HR Tips You Ought to Know

I love this post. Thanks Ben. You're really saying it how it is. Social media is such an opportunity for HR professionals but there is such a way to go...this definitely helps 'the cause'!

Re: Engage for Success

Thanks for commenting Julia. Good to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. The Engage for Success movement is a really exciting project to be involved with, and it's just the beginning. Let's keep in touch on this.

Re: Should Employees be Allowed Access to Facebook at Work?

Hi Amanda

Thanks for commenting (especially with the background challenges!). I agree it can be very positive and the ideal is for people other than the marketing department to realise that it's their opportunity too. Something I'm keen to promote as you know.

I think the really big companies are getting there - many of them have internal social networks - and the solopreneurs have been the early adopters. It's the big group in the middle of small and medium size businesses where the opportunity lies I think.

Thanks for commenting.

Re: Should Employees be Allowed Access to Facebook at Work?

I'm a little confused as to whether you agree they should have access or not!

Re: Why Women Make Better Marketers

Hi Igor

Thanks for contributing. Being a bit techie myself and quite pragmatic, I'm thankful that I'm female to give me half a chance of following the NICE model! I really appreciate hearing your perspective on this Igor.

I guess this reflects that thing about a man offering up solutions when a woman often just wants some empathy. Not sure where I am on that spectrum as the solution bit does sound more appealing, albeit when offered up to me I'm often less than enthusiastic about taking the advice!

As you say, I guess it's about being aware of these things and working on the bits that we need to do differently to best effect.

Re: Adding The Hootsuite Hootlet To Safari, In Your iPhone Or iPad

Thanks - just what I was looking for!

Re: Business Blogging – Consistency is the Key

Most definitely Earlene. Thanks for commenting. I agree there can be a lot going on behind the scenes with women. In general terms I think a man's agenda at a networking event can be worked out quite easily, and as you say quite often with women what may appear to be the agenda on the surface is not the reality! As I said this is a generalisation though. Thanks for the book reference, I will check it out.

Re: 10 Email Marketing Blunders That Kill Open Rates and Click Throughs

I'm always really paranoid that I'm going to send an email with errors and often send myself loads of test emails. Trouble is I'm often working on the move and they don't always come through quick enough before I need to send the email. But rather than get it sent I usually wait to make sure it's right...not sure that's the most pragmatic solution, just my paranoia! Great, really useful post Stu. Off to share it with my community! Sometimes I send an email that is about just one thing - with an affiliate link - so I would fall foul of this rule in that case. I can't imagine AWeber has a similar rule as many internet marketers send many solo mailings without any problems. I guess they are trying to ensure quality content and no spam, but it is a harsh rule if they apply it. Thanks for asking them Rob.
