I had also neglected my Tumblelog, but always suspected it might be useful. This one is really a *group*, which I'm using just for me. I think it invites for a more relaxing sort of blogging.
I do the same, open loads of accounts and sometimes even forget and try to open them again, get a message saying my email is already taken, so I think, "who has used my email?". But that's probably due to the age....
I've just started to use Disqus, so I haven't experimented yet. I'm using it because it was a possibility to add comments here.
I love the course, I get inspired through the interchange. I think the enthusiasm is bound to decline, at least this is what usually happens. Luckily, as we are a lot, we have lots of chances of keeping it up.

Hay que tener en cuenta que esto es un recorte de un recorte, esto para darle algo de crédito a Tedesco.
Lo que me llamé la atención fue esto de que lo menos calificado es la transmisión de datos, nunca me sentí una transmisora de datos (tal vez sea porque enseñe lengua). Sin embargo, transmitir datos es lo que muchos docentes hacen, como objetivo exclusivo de su tarea, es más, es en eso dónde basan su autoridad. (me gustaría decir esto en voz baja, o en una tipografía mínima.)
Del recorte podríamos suponer que él piensa que la tecnología sirve sólo para la transmisión de datos. Pero a esto en realidad no lo sabemos, al recorte lo hizo el que escribió la nota, no él. Espero que no piense eso.

Many one to one programs are being implemented in Argentina. This has brought about an explosion of "experts". They just repeat what they've read and have very little web experience. It's funny, but also sad to listen to them. Yet, they train other teachers.

First of all thanks for the blog archive for the Facilitating online communities course - a great help to someone like me who is very new to all this but I am enjoying looking at other blogs and how they are put together. Look forward to the rest of the course it certainly will be a learning curve for many of us.

Good question! Should police also judge, be jury, and then sentence? Should doctors also bury and console? Should parents be our flat mates? .. searching here.. roles.. should we divide up the roles more so that teachers have a chance to be a teacher? Could it be that if we did, the dynamic in class rooms and society at large - (where class rooms are a decided influence on people's behavior) become a different place and experience?

Yes, but the copyright they use in the OCW sux. How they get away with using the word "open" is a shame. Everyone grabbing a free beverage is nice at first, until ppl start missing the original flavors.

It is odd to me that the obvious example of the best OER (by way of mission statement, its clear success, in its diligent maintenance of copyright, its use of open standard formats, and in its open governance) is too often left out of the discussion. The open free cultural works, and massively popular Wikimedia Foundation projects like Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikibooks, Wikiversity, Wikinews, Wikisource, Wikitionary, Wikispecies, and more! Far and away more used than the new sites that attempt to commercialise open education concepts, yet ignored by too many late entrants to this discussion. Is it a case of an elephant in the room not fitting in with our pre-existing categories?

In Australia and New Zealand, the search term is Recognition of Prior Learning or Assessment of Prior Learning. Unfortunately it is most commonly found in vocational certificates and not university programs. Australian university programs don't all assess through examinations and standardised tests, often requiring more time consuming assessment activities like essays, presentation, group and folio work.
