For those of us who use mobility devices - or for those delivering food on carts, pushing children in strollers, etc. - those who put obstacles on sidewalks and more, in curb-cuts are incredibly inconsiderate. I tried to think of what would cause someone to have to just DROP a bike or scooter where they stopped and perhaps sudden illness. I don't think that is the general reason. I add my thanks to the person who did this and those who will in the future.

Speaking of roads .. anyone have updates on how they are from downtown to Sibley hospital? Esp. around Sibley or are the main-main roads clear? Did Sibley clear parking lots? Getting stuck anywhere along the way is low on my list of things to do. Postponing is a better thought.

There should be a rule/law that if you're sick, stay home! Air born anything travels around cubicles. Spouse, on days in the office, still masks. We learned in 2023 how just a small time maskless around others brings home COVID or flu, esp. if people are eating. How chocolate or if sniffles arrive, hot tea and honey and yes to telework Monday!

Rave/Revel: On Tues., 1/20, around 5:10 p.m., my spouse, walking near 14th and NY NW, saw a woman with a walker and lots of bags on the handles crossing the street. After checking to see she could walk well enough, he waited to ensure she got across. Two police cars stopped to block the street so she could get across safely and one stayed to be sure. Spouse thanked them - a young officer evidently - who just waved as in "just in my line of duty" - yet we both thought this was exceptional kindness. We don't have badge number or car license, still DC police have a heart and we hope they keep it and show it more.

Chef Geoff's is - buy one for I think $100 and receive another for $20. I'm not sure of the amounts -- I am sure they are doing this.

We have had similar from Atlantic Duct Cleaning (think that's right) .. which a bunch of us used in our building. They looked like they did something and they did not. We used another co. from MD that was great but our building only allows DC-licensed companies. Desperate to find a reputable one.

Any update from the vet? Know how agonizing it is. And did they suggest what to do when there is overhydration? Taking away the water seems cruel even if it is "for her own good." So hoping it's easily found and treated tho' it sounds like long term meds. I am so so sorry.

The CVS at 24th and M NW is doing COVID and flu and others in the MinuteClinic not pharmacy. We are going there in a week. .. with scripts just in case tho' an 80 yo friend in VA had to have a 'script for COVID! Nuts!

Only Novavax has worked for me to not have a reaction. Alas, they are slow in shipping. AND finding appts. for anything in DC is not fun. Here's what I know: if you get COVID despite the vax, you will suffer less .. and my hope is not get long COVID which has been (since April 2023) worse than cancer bec there is nothing to help. Glad you feel better.

HRT helped me through it all and still does long past. It does not stimulate aches or not mine. Old age and wear and tear AND Long COVID tho' have done a number. I think too that the stress of living under the regime and esp. here is causing us all to be in pain.. which I think is their goal w/ the vaccineless nightmare. To us all, breathe in and out and try to find some humor. (I use Clay Jones and Keith Knight and other editorial cartoonists to help.)

RANT: DC is one of THE least accessible city for disabled people. All the blocking of curb lanes do not allow anyone being dropped off who has a mobility device to be let out and able to get in. When I look at places for rent or sale, so few have flat entrances, ramps, and no steps from lobby to elevators. Restaurants with steps into them or only seating upstairs with no elevator inside or only a staff usable one. I begged the WaPo food critic to include accessibility in the reviews. When it says "restrooms are ADA compliant" it does not mean accessible. A favorite restaurant on 7th NW, by a favorite chef/owner/philanthropist, requires using a very steep ramp up and no turnaround space or even easy way to enter the restroom. "Compliant" usually doesn't mean "accessible." Ignoring that the current regime only wants golf-course grade grass on the Mall, why is it so bad -- and has it been for years? (Then there are the scooters and bikes in curb cuts and the people on them not looking....)

There are still elections this year, NYC in particular. I feel less and less confident in anything that has to do with what was the US voting system and voters.

Yes and our problem is the building recommended co. that offers a discount does crappy work. The board did a resolution that unless a company for ANY work is licensed in DC where we are, we can't use them. We had, after the first round w/ the bad co. used a MD co. that is not licensed in DC - before the resolution to only use DC companies. And yes, clothes dryer vents are a likely fire hazard. Ditto to our building's list. Unsure how "Oliver" got in and offered the same. Claimed to be a resident but wouldn't provide a unit number. Lots of pressure via email. Others too "bit" on being interested before the post could be removed. None of us paid - it just didn't sound ok .. and clearly wasn't. Too our list is getting lots of requests to join from non-residents. I'm guessing for the same purpose. All are being turned down now.

One of the many things that makes me nuts is when "Washington" is referred to, people, if they watch news, think it IS all govt. making good or bad laws depending on the news absorber's outlook. Why can't they say "In the seat of government where the people who live, pay taxes, and have no representation, are occupied by their overlords"?

Did you contact DCRA to ask? It's odd unless they lost funding but you'd think or hope there'd be a notice and something done.
