We are super excited to try this out, as ZenDesk chat (formerly Zopim) has been good, but not completely ideal. Integrating chat directly into Help Scout will save a lot of headaches. :)

Great piece. I also think it was fantastic because they added the last sentence to explain that they would not say anything further on this, lest it be mistaken for marketing. Lesser companies would have jumped on this opportunity and used it as a marketing campaign. Skittles seems to be a class act in actively trying not to capitalize on this.

A note to promoters/bookers, as well. Don't message all three of the bands on your bill with vague instructions to "create a Facebook event and invite your friends" without providing basic information such as the time the doors open, the lineup schedule, and the cover charge (if any), and without specifying which of the five people in the message thread you are actually asking to do the task for you. And don't wait until the week before the show to send said vague message, either.

Communication all around makes everyone happier and better and what they do. <3

Nice piece. It's funny you would reference that Freaks and Geeks episode. The first time I saw it, I immediately likened it to my discovery of Phish when I was about 14. Guess it's a common thing. :)

Hey there,

I tried three times to install f.lux on my PC, and then gave up. I uninstalled what I had, and deleted all program files.

Now, my monitor is dimming to the lovely orange hue, and I realized that there's still a f.lux icon in my taskbar tray that I can open to adjust settings and whatnot.

It's great that it's working, but kind of strange, no? I've attached a screen shot to show you that I have zero program files on my computer, as far as I can tell. I also searched for "flux" just in case...

Any thoughts, musings, words of encouragement?

Saw the Social Network at an advance screening last week and it was quite good! The dialogue's a little too zippy to be believable, but Trent Reznor's score is pretty good. :)

I've got it working on my phone - more than 24 hours after that email saying it would be up and running in 24 hours, mind you. It seems that I'll miss a call, and then the voicemail for said call doesn't show up until several hours (and sometimes an entire day!) later. AND, when I delete a message, it'll show up the next day as a new message again. Anyone else having this happen?

Okay, so I admit it's been FOREVER since I've read your stuff...for that, I apologize. :)

On another weird note, my musical concubine and I were practicing our live set for a show we're playing on Saturday night, and we spontaneously broke into Tom's Diner mid-set. We stopped for a little break, and I started surfing the net.

"Hmmm, I haven't checked out Jac's stuff in a while...maybe I'll go there."

What's the first thing I see? Why, Tom's Diner. I love you. You're my never-met-in-real-life bestie. :D

I heard her say it too! My boyfriend and I just turned and looked at each other like, "did that really just come out of her mouth?!" Yikes.

I think adding "no offence" makes it worse because the speaker KNOWS that what they're about to say is obnoxious and would probably be better left unsaid - but they're going to be ignorant and just go ahead and say it anyway. It's ridiculous.

Also, here's some food for thought: if a Canadian is quoting an American, which spelling should they use? The writing is Canadian, but the quote itself is American. Whoa dude... :P

I LOVE this commercial. When it comes on, I laugh my guts out - and my partner laughs at ME! It's a funny chain of events that also occurs when the little old lady in the grocery store pinney points at her eyes, then at the guy she just took money from, like "I'm watching you..."
