In addition to or instead of an individual coach - there are also CEO and Key Executive peer groups (e.g. Vistage, YPO, etc.) consisting of non-competitive company CEOs from various stages and industries that can prove useful for both questions and answers. The diversity of experience and thought can be super helpful, especially when offered in the context of having no agenda other than helping the individual.

Anecdotally, I recently did alumni interviews of 4 high school seniors as part of their college applications and asked them all what social media apps they used. All of them answered Twitter for news, Instagram and Snapchat...not a single one said Facebook.

Surprised that productivity apps didn't make the top 10 list as save-it-for-later, notetaking and bookmarking apps also see a big spike in downloads on Christmas and the week following.

Totally agree with your conclusion, Walt. In the moment, it's almost impossible to separate emotion from reason (and, as you point out - emotion makes for spicier journalism). But in the end, success and ultimate value creation for a start-up almost always requires different leadership for different stages of growth.

Agree that me-too app 3rd party app stores are an endangered species. In fact, Vodaphone has also announced it will be discontinuing its app store(s) in Europe as of 11/21.

However, it's possible that curated app bundles like those offered by Sprint with their ID program may still succeed as they expedite discovery and help new users get started.
